An elementary school teacher, disturbed by dreams of her dead brother claiming to be visiting her from heaven, seeks professional help. On the way to her therapist's office she wonders into the old Candle Shop, which results in her life being forever changed. Is it real or just a dream? Only the candle maker knows for sure.

In book two high school senior, Phyllis Clark, has just returned to school after a summer in California. Once back in school she finds out that one of her teacher's and his girl friend has pulled a classic jewel theft. Her grandfather is called in on the case. The perpetrators try to ransom the jewels and ask for Phyllis to make the exchange.

Uncle Henry and Benjamin visit Phyllis for Christmas. Phyllis is happy, but soon finds out that the real reason for the visit is related to the finding of the Devil's Scepter the summer before. With the help of her grandfather Philip Clark and the Chicago police, they race to stop a demon from entering the world using the old Chicago underground rail system.

After a commuter train collides with a Freight train, Naval intelligence officers find out that it was an act of domestic terrorism. Over the next seven years they uncover many such acts by the same group. Finally, one of the terrorists makes a mistake which takes down the nationwide network. The story comes to a climax as Naval intelligence officers race with time to stop a terrorist form bombing an Amtrak train containing 350 passengers including a senator, a general, a millionaire, and their wives

In his search for closure he wanders into a strange candle shop. While staring into one very odd candle he finds himself transported back to the day of her death. Is it real or only a dream? Can he save the girl that he was always too shy to tell that he loved? Can he find peace?

Phyllis Clark just finished her junior year of high school, and more than anything else she wants to become a private detective like her grandfather. In hopes of changing her mind, her parents send her to visit her uncle who works for the California historical commission. Phyllis, her uncle and his handsome young assistant find an old pirate map which eventually leads them to the devil's scepter. The scepter is also sought by an artifacts dealer, and a demon, each of whom are more than willing to kill for them.

This is the first book in the Joy In Life trilogy. In the trilogy we see the events which shape the lives of several couples from three different peoples' points of view. The fictional romantic comedy takes place in 1967. It follows a group of high school teens as they cope with promiscuity, alcohol, peer pressure and falling in love, while trying to figure out their relationship with God. Our womanizing hero will do just about anything, except study, in his quest for a college scholarship. In his quest he finds the love of his life amid the insane events which culminate during Christmas vacation. All three books have strong language, sexual situations and are laced with Christian theology.

In this, the second book of the "Joy in Life" trilogy we focus on Milo Franklin and how his life is changed after he is drawn into Doc's little family of reprobates. Before Decker's thoughtless act, Milo life is so average that it is commented that even he doesn't know that he exists. At first, he is terrified to be around guys like Decker, Jimmy and Doc. But, the lure of popularity and pretty girls is irresistible. Once a part of the group, he finds that he fits in quite well, much to the surprise of everyone. Milo becomes a minor folk hero and lands on of the school's prettiest girls.

The third book of the Joy in Life series. This book centers around Candy Miller as she struggles with her seemingly outdated virtue of virginity. She goes from one boyfriend, who only wants her for, sex to another who never even kisses her. Se wants nothing to do with anyone like Doc, until an injury forces her to get to know him. She soon finds out that they have a lot in common and are made for each other.

This a prequel to the Joy in Life series. In this book we go back to the very beginning, when Doc was only Hank. He moves into a new neighborhood and meets the girl of his dreams, only to find out that the dream is a nightmare. The oversexed "southern bell" worms her way into every aspect of his life and controls him in every way she can. For ten years she dominates his world. Through the story our hero shares a string of outrageous experiences with some of the oddest people you could ever meet, including the Decker brothers.
