Everybody has a story about how they got to where they are. And they are all interesting. None more than others. Just depends on the person reading it. This is the story of my family. This is not a genealogy book, but I did read one for a lot of the information. Some was passed on to me and some I learned by contemplation. Two especially prominent people were Donald Cargill who was hanged for preaching against the Episcopal Church and the other was John Finley whose granddaughter married a Cargill. Finley showed Daniel Boone the passage through the Appalachian Mountains and opened up Kentucky for settlement.An interesting story is about James Rogers Cargill who was hung three times by Union troops looking for his rebel son William. James survived the three hangings. Twice the soldiers let him down to talk where his son was, but he didn't tell. The third time he was hung, his daughter Eustacia cut him down from the tree branch when the soldiers rode off. James survived and after a few months he recovered from the damage to his throat.The book mentions The Cargill Brothers string Band featuring my grandfather on fiddle. His name was Acie Cargill. Also in here is the story of Cornelius Cargill who was an early settler who married six women. One at a time, of course. They were all widows and he outlived each of them. In fact, he died alone after his sixth wife died. He didn't marry a seventh time.My family were southerners from Virginia, then South Carolina, then Kentucky, but they were not slave owners. They fought in the Civil War for the Confederacy, but not as pro-slavery. They fought for independence and liberty. They didn't understand the Northern way of life. They wanted to live in Kentucky without and interference by the Union and they were willing to fight for that. They were not slave owners and were not involved in that evil activity at all.

Keith Raniere is a brilliant theorist in the field of mental self-improvement. He has developed a program called NXIVM that is presented in lectures and seminars and encourages attendees to become members of the organization and 17,000 people have joined and contributed millions of dollars to the success of the organization.Raniere has used his charm and his ideas to win over many women sexually and had an inner circle called DOS where the women meet while sitting in a circle nude and most of them are lovers with Raniere. The women recruit other women to join the group and they are encouraged to have sex with Raniere.This is a one-act play about an hour in length of Raniere being interviewed on the Howard Stern Show. Three of the women in his inner circle, Nancy Salzman, actress Allison Mack, and billionaire heiress Clare Bronfman are also on the show discussing the principles of the NXIVM therapy and also the unusual sexual proclivity of the group. As usual, Stern is eager for them to share their sexual secrets, which they do and not reluctantly.

Instead of reading vast treatises and volumes of philosophy, this book summarizes the wisdom of four groups, Buddhists, Native Americans, African Americans and Ancient Greeks, including Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato. All these groups express their ideas differently depending on the situations they have been exposed to. The Buddhists express ways to s higher consciousness, the Native Americans have ideas about living close to the earth and preserving their lands, the African Americans are especially conscious of their struggle to rise above the inequities they have been subjected to, and the Ancient Greeks contemplated ways they can live together for maximum enjoyment and intellectual growth.All four of these groups express a lot of wisdom and awareness and there is a lot that can be learned from studying their words and ideas. This book does not cover everything. It is a taste of their thoughts. All of them can benefit all of us. Contemplate what they have to say and learn their wisdom.

To find all these wonderful quotes a person would have to read through many pages of writing by these authors. Mark Twain was the most famous American author of the 19th century and Benjamin Franklin in the 18th century. Shakespeare might possibly be the most renowned writer of all time. Solomon was the third king of the Jews in Israel. He was the son of David and grandson of Saul. He prayed to Yahweh to be granted wisdom and he was known for having 800 wives and concubines and wrote several of the books of the Bible including Proverbs, Song of Solomon, and possibly the Psalms.Here is 13,000 words of their condensed writing, easy to follow and enjoy. Many of the quotes are familiar from being used in our everyday thoughts.

This was a very newsworthy case of a Navy SEAL accused of murdering an ISIS prisoner of war by stabbing him in the neck after trying to save his life with emergency medical procedures. Everything about the case was controversial including that Gallagher was accused by other SEALS under his command who resented the extreme combat situations Gallagher subjected them to. Gallagher himself was a highly decorated war hero from fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan and he felt the new S EAL recruits were soft and even cowardly. It was the old school against the new.Eventually Gallagher was found not guilty for the killing of the prisoner and his record was mostly exonerated except that he posed with the body of the dead ISIS fighter. It was a far lesser charge and instead of life in prison, Gallagher just took a cut in his rank and pay. President Trump got involved and hinted that he would pardon Gallagher if he was found guilty, and the President sent him a congratulatory note when he was found innocent.

There is climate change in this world. A climate crisis. The entire Earth is affected and some places worse than others. What about the Mississippi River flooding? It was bad this year and may be worse next year and every year from now on unless we make major changes in our abuse of the planet. Rain, rain, and more rain. And it is still going on. Some parts of the Earth are affected by extreme heat and droughts. Severe weather like hurricanes. Melting of our polar ice caps. The high water in the Mississippi River also affects the Delta where it enters the Gulf of Mexico. This area was where fish and shrimp had their young, but this year it is not happening because of the high water in the Mississippi. I am proposing a plan here to avoid the Mississippi flooding.The idea is to get the excess water out of the Mississippi basin and send it to where it is desperately needed out West. We could dig a huge canal for thousands of miles and spend many billions of dollars or it would be much easier to reverse the flow of some rivers flowing into the Mississippi, for instance the Arkansas River, and cause that water to flow west instead. The Arkansas River joins with the Canadian River and could flow through Oklahoma where the water is needed and at present the Canadian River is almost dry in some places.From there, the water could be routed into New Mexico and even Arizona through some of the nearly dry river beds. The water could be used for agricultural purposes and human consumption and for nature and wildlife. Bring the desert to life with the water from the Mississippi that otherwise is causing massive destruction from flooding almost every year. The key is the reversal of the water flow in the rivers. An example of flow reversal is the Chicago River that was reversed to carry sewage away from Lake Michigan. It can be done and large amounts of water can be routed to the West where it is needed.

How did the Beatles get so good? For one thing they started playing in bands as early teenagers. Skiffle music based on American blues and rockabilly music. In their late teens they went to Germany to do jobs and played 6 nights a week and 8 hours a night straight through. That would certainly make them play tight together. And probably most important is they had massive musical talent, performing and composing. They dropped out of school at an early age and just concentrated on learning their music trade. And it worked. Maybe they are uneducated, but they were certainly great talents.Would they have been as good as individuals or with other musicians? Probably not. It was almost like some kind of fate that they found each other and were perfect compliments to each other's talents and skills. Even Ringo. He was the least of the group. But he was important in helping them achieve their popularity because of his zany personality. They all were fun-loving and enjoyed being together. George added the important bluesy guitar licks. John and Paul were first rate singers and songwriters, especially together. Their accessory team members, Brian Epstein, their manager, and their producer George Martin. Also had important roles in their success. When they came to America in 1964 and appeared 4 times on the Ed Sullivan to loud, screaming adulation of their teenage girl fans their success was assured. They made recordings and even later some movies. One time the top five songs on the Billboard top 40 were all songs by the Beatles. That was never done before or since. They wrote over 200 songs, most of them very good. Catchy and popular. They gave their generation a special musical identity. One good song after another. One good entire album after another. And their music and thoughts evolved and influenced the whole music scene and the popular thinking and behavior and appearance throughout most of the world. They were a giant influence.

1919 was a year of racial turmoil in America. The Great Migration from the South to Northern Cities was taking place Also hundreds of thousands of African American soldiers were returning home from World War I where they had fought for freedom and were willing to stand up for it in America. Another factor was a black and white silent film Birth of a Nation was released and glorified the Ku Klux Klan and racial fighting and it was very popular and was even shown at the White House. Two hundred black sharecroppers had been murdered in Arkansas and there were hundreds of lynchings across the country.This account is based on two eyewitness reports by John Harris and Ida B. Wells. They were there and saw what was going on in Chicago and how it got started. It was a terrible year in America and this is just one of the trouble spots. There was violence in many cities and towns and in the country. Hopefully it will never happen again.

There are some very erotic sections in this story.

Let the children lead us if they know things better than us. The old people should know the most, but there are some things that the kids know better. We all do stuff over and over. Repetitive lives. We go with the easy ways. Because they work for us. The kids don't have all that baggage. They can just see what is right. What is better for the world and life in general. They don't want the old ways. Time to change is now, before it is too late, and the earth will be in uncontrollable decline.The kids see that. They want to live their whole lives that are ahead of them and they think about the destruction of things they hold dear. Like the forests and the animals and the normal weather patterns. The kids can sense that we are still making things worse. They are in a battle for survival against the established powers who control everything and care more about money than saving this planet for posterity. The kids know that.

A U.S. Marine stationed at Zamboanga in the Philippines has time to spend and writes a short history of the Philippines with a special emphasis on the Muslims. He covers from prehistoric times and the migrations that settled the islands up to the present time. He describes the early Islamic explorers and settlers and the discovery by Magellan who claimed the islands for King Philip of Spain and named the islands after him. Spanish and Muslim occupations, then American and then Japanese. None of them were angels. In the midst of all that, the Filipino people were oppressed and fighting for hundreds of years. There is a large part of this book dedicated to describing the Muslim terrorism and attempts at separatism from the National government.

A young woman raised in New York City grew up with a fascination for voodoo, actually for any aspect of the supernatural. She makes her way to Haiti where voodoo is still a part of everyday life for many of the people living there. She is invited to take part in voodoo ceremonies, and she is accepted as one of the family and is exposed to the deepest secrets held by the people who befriend her. Ask any country music fan who is the best-known country singer ever and they will probably tell you, Johnny Cash. He didn't sell the most records, but he sold a lot of them. He didn't write the mos big hits, but he did write quite a few. He was just popular. A man of the common people. Southern bred. Picked cotton. Was in the military service. Started with Sun Records in Memphis along with Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. He married into the legendary Carter Family who basically started Country Music. He did everything right.This is a 4700 word one-act play. A monologue with narrator. It covers from his early childhood and goes until his death. All his major recordings. His love life. His activism. He is an icon of his generation.

There is a lot of gentleness and love in his words including love for animals. There is nothing here relating to any violence or hatred for any groups. Just kindness and morality.
