Serials and B Westerns were no longer money-makers and vanished, while a new breed of producers began to challenge the "censorship code." There are 4,296 features in this comprehensive filmography, including 61 documentaries of feature length and 44 of what were called "race movies," i.e., those with an all-black cast. For each: title, studio, year of production and release, cast and credits, production personnel, and a brief plot synopsis. Where applicable: Academy Award winners and nominees, other awards, and for performers, film debuts and final screen appearances. Alternate titles are cross-referenced.

This comprehensive reference book contains 5,418 listings of feature-length films produced in the United States from the beginning of the "talkies" era in 1927 through 1939.
