The forgotten airfield at Throwley, Faversham, Kent, which existed between 1917 and 1919, was created to aid Britain's coastal defence after the public's fearful outcry in response to Zeppelin raids early in the First World War. With background to the country's history of home defence prior to World War I and the developments that lead to the airfield, such as all Royal Flying Corps fighters having been sent to France in 1914 leaving Britain virtually defenceless, and Churchill's decision to create units of aircraft to aid defence, the book tells the tale of both the airfield and of 112 Squadron, based there to combat the threat.

Being the son of a soldier has a lot to answer for, let's be honest. In some cases you either follow in your father's footsteps or not.Writing this book has given me the opportunity to convey my memories to my children. To show them what it was like growing up in the British Army and later joining the Army Catering Corps. These are my experiences encompassing my career and my family life. A few nuggets of history have been thrown in for good measure; The "maze", Batus, San Salvador, Spandau in berlin, Soltau and many more.If you happen to stumble across this book and you are a soldier or a veteran, perhaps you may reminisce on places I've visited during my career. If it brings back those memories to you then I think I've accomplished what I intended to do.

There have been several books written on the British Army Catering Corps either from the first day of its formation in 1941 and/or all the way through to the Royal Logistic Corps being formed in 1993. Unfortunately some of these accounts were never mass produced.Where did it all begin? The ACC; what was it all about? And how did training develop throughout the years? What did it really involve? With this in mind I set myself a task of tracing ordinary men and women who were trained in Aldershot from Ramillies, Tournai, Clayton and finally at St Omer Barracks. I decided to combine an account of how we, as soldiers became a part of British Army history. The result is what you see before you, a unique look into the lives and memories from the past Army Catering Corps and the present Royal Logistic Corps soldiers. Wrapped within two Volumes are personal anecdotes and a somewhat detailed journey incorporating the history of the Corps through various fields of literature and how it was transformed into a now disbanded part of the British Army. This is the second volume of first-hand accounts from the ordinary men and women who were there. Sometimes poignant, at other times surprising and even humorous; the personal experiences of these soldier's tells the story of the Corps in their own way which is as fresh as their past memories. This second volume falls into place by telling the story of the Corps, just before the end of the 1960's, along with our memories within the chapters. This is a part chronological guide of the Corps, the chapters that shaped and molded the former soldiers to being a "Soldier first, and a Chef second". We Sustain.

While "Reflections of the Heart" is Anthony Moore's debut book of poetry, he has been writing beautiful poetry for decades. This collection includes poetry about love, beauty, identity, family, and what it means to be alive and loving your life.
Following on from Anthony's previous books, A Soldiers Son, The Army Catering Corps-Our Memories Volume 1 & 2. A Squaddies Journey finds him following on from being a soldiers 'Brat' and joining the Army Catering Corps as a teenager, and serving soldiers around the world. This book captures many more memories of his time as a 'Squaddie', and the tours he made during the 1970's and 1980's.These encompass his complete army career, with a sprinkling of the 'Pads' family life thrown in for good measure. Also included are a few nuggets of the Corps history at St Omer Barracks. Some veterans may recall a few of these tours, and "Civvies" may be intrigued; From Belize in Central America, the wilderness of Medicine Hat in Canada and East Berlin, with many more tales to boot. This time he has finally accomplished what he set out to do."They appeared to have great pleasure in taking turns with every soldiers space during bull-nights, ripping army kit out of the lockers, and turning neatly folded bed covers, including the beds, upside down, and then sliding across the accommodation floors with their ammo boots, to scratch up the floor polish ""The funny thing was, sometime later in our new postings, soldiers caught on and used paint shine called "Morello".So much for Bull-nights "Sir, my weapons jammed" as he turned the SLR around, pointing it at the Range Officer We had to stop ourselves laughing, as everyone dived for some cover, and he got a hell of a rollicking"
