Barbara Fisk has lived a lifetime of adventure in the beautiful wilderness of the Pacific Northwest. An artist, musician and airplane pilot, she once played mother to an orphaned bear cub! "I do not know why I scooped Ted out of the tide pool; I didn't know he was attached to his stub of a tail Washing and brushing still didn't help the way he looked, even when I sewed two buttons on him so he would have some eyes; but wherever I went over the course of the years, Ted came along. Now he lives a quiet life, sitting in a little red wagon with two friends. They can see out the big window to the mountains, the cedar and fir trees, and the birds flying by, and when the wind blows, the trees wave their branches and chase the clouds away. I hope you have a teddy bear like Ted to hug and love."

Animals of all kinds have always been part of my life. Our family has always had a dog. We have lived close to the country and nature, and the deer, coyotes, squirrels, rabbits and bears. It was a gift to have found the little bear, and to have spent a short time raising her. She loved to be held, to play games with Cindy, our dog, and to climb trees in the yard. It was hard to part with her, but at least she would have a safe life where no one could harm her. The love I gave her came back to us in all her cute ways, and in my memories of her soft, fuzzy body nestled in my arms for a nap.
