Eileen is the first book in a series of three. The trilogy is a story, which begins and is set in various parts of County Mayo West Ireland.It highlights the issues faced by many people from the Irish farming community back in the 1920s right through to the 1950s and after. The story demonstrates, how living off the grid whilst psychically challenging was also joyful in so many ways. Eileen is a strong character. She knew what she wanted from life and would seek to acquire it regardless. Being the daughter of Biddy and John, she had grown up with ideas of better things for herself. Did she achieve her desires, or did life and all it threw at her wear her down ?

This is a fiction based on fact story.It looks at the raising a family in Bethel Park, in Pennsylvania, in the United States of America, during the 1960s. That was a pretty reasonably easy scenario for the Grady family. In many ways they were very fortunate. Finances were never an issue for them. Working in education gave them opportunity to have lengthy periods of quality time, during school holidays with their three children. Seamus Grady and Eileen O Hara being the main characters, are there almost from the beginning. Both families have Irish ancestors. Their parents and grandparents left Mayo, left Ireland and left Cloontia behind them in pursuit of a better life. Eileen had heard many stories about poverty for her ancestors and living life off the grid in the West . She developed a great love for the country she had never seen. Eileen had a very strong desire to live in Ireland one day.Did life and its many obstacles get in her way, or did she fulfil her dream?
