God gave Peter and Paul specific segments of society as their respective spheres of influence. Peter was given the Jews (circumcision) and Paul was given the Gentiles (uncircumcision). It was up to Peter to explain the change of divine emphasis from the Jewish kingdom to the Christian church, a body of truth which was given directly to Paul which Peter himself struggled to understand on occasion. Nevertheless, he did a magnificent job In his first epistle he warns specific assemblies that severe suffering and persecution is headed their way. In his second epistle he emphasizes a full knowledge (epignosis) of doctrine as a defensive and offensive weapon in the daily life of all Christians.

Perpetual Childhood is the second half of a rebuke written by the Apostle Paul to the most blatant Christian reprobates of the 1st century. They had an abundance of temporary sign-gifts that served as a witness to Jewish unbelievers, but they had no understanding of how to use the permanent spiritual gifts bequeathed to Church Age believers. They made spectacles of themselves in public, exhibiting lewd and drunken behavior. They had issues with authority that prevented them from learning God's Word. They had no virtue love for their brethren. The brightest among them were duped by false teachers concerning the resurrection. They were so obnoxious that Apollos was reluctant to help them, but Paul did not give up. He met the challenge with a combination of chastisement and encouragement.
