It seems that someone has been caught trying to abscond with thousands of $s in illegal funds, but instead of making a dash for the nearest airport, he made a dash to his friends on the local newspaper. Of course they tell him they are loyal and caring but mostly they are really worrying about the Pulitzer they hope they will get when the story breaks. Before there can be a story and a Pulitzer, they have to keep him alive long enough to give them the facts...enter a security expert, a professional babysitter for all intents and purposes, to hold his hand. Those ticked off bosses are hot on his trail but his babysitter is quite capable and more than up to the task.

Aristotle once said: "some animals are cunning and evil-disposed...some are gentle and easily tamed...some kinds of animals burrow...some animals are nocturnal...others use the hours of daylight..." In this little collection of animal stories, you will find animals that fit these descriptions and others that have characteristics and personalities that fit no particular category. These are animals going about the business of being animals, dealing with their daily lives, even though it may look a bit cock-eyed to the humans around them. One story may touch your heart, while another may leave you in awe...one or more may inspire or tug at the corners of your mouth but hopefully all will entertain.

Calling this a collection is the only term that fits. There are stories about animals who go about their daily and sometimes nightly lives of business as usual. There are other stories about animals who by their very nature, put them in the cross-hairs of the humans around them...and still other stories about people whose twisted lives and personalities may confound you and leave you in awe. All of these stories are meant to entertain and stimulate your imagination. Hopefully, you will enjoy each one but maybe at least one more than the others.

This is a story about the challenging and treacherous journey of a young man of 17 who tried to defend his mother's honor against a trio of bullies, possibly killing one and barely escaping with his own life. Then he had to flee under the cover of darkness, along with another young man in a similar situation, and cross 4 state borders in order to save his life. His father gave him his best hunting knife...his mother gave him a few provisions, many hugs and kisses, covered his face in her tears and then sent him on his way with her prayers for his safety. She knew that the river would provide water and solace but also danger because everyone else also knew that this would be his most likely stopping place...even he had no clue as to his final destination. Yes, he would head for the river, the Chattahoochee, but only to catch his breath and unburden his soul for a moment...then he would find a way across, perhaps continue farther north, but eventually he decided to follow the trail which led west. First, he had to try to formulate a plan for survival so that he and his fellow renegade would be able to stay alive.
