Deli meat cutter Oswald Gray considers himself "average -- with a capital A." Except when the twentysomething is online, playing as the one and only Zax, the "perfect" MMO sorcerer. There's simply nothing Zax can't do -- provided he does it alone. Oz (and Zax's) perfect, solo bubble is burst, however, with the impending termination of his beloved online game "Lands of Glory," coupled with the sudden, terminal illness of Oz's unlikely, online (perhaps only actual) friend, Totem. Oz's virtual and literal worlds ultimately propel him on a quest to the Emerald City of Seattle -- accompanied by his faithful companions, Crow and Steele -- where he must convince reluctant developer Bertha Leon to bring back Lands of Glory's "final, unsolvable mission," that he may run it with his dying friend, in the process coming face to face with his own tragic past, and real life dragons."Lands of Oswald" is a full-length play with a running time of approximately 90 minutes. The cast features 3 males, 4 females, 4 of either gender, and several, optional, non-speaking roles. Wayward Prince Val is heir apparent to the throne of Goshen. Unfortunately, the impetuous youth simply isn't ready for the job. To obtain the mantle, he must give up his identity, assume the guise of a "learned monk of the Order Esoterica," and solve a problem "worthy of a king." However, when that "problem" reveals itself to be associated with proud, capable, beautiful Princess Arya, Val is caught between his task and his attraction for the Princess. Will he maintain his guise, assume the throne, and (likely) lose the lady? Or will he give up the mantle, all for love? "Wise Men" is a full-length comedy featuring a large cast (8F, 4M, 3-6 of either gender). The approximate running time is 2 hours. Set requirements are modest. If you are interested in staging this play, there are contact instructions included on the last page of the text.
