This book is a theological reflection which invites the reader to a new understanding that sees salvation not only in terms of forgiveness of sins, but in the light of the total transformation of our lives. Dallas Willard presents a way of living that enables ordinary men and women to join with God and realize their highest aspirations of well-being and well-doing. The key to this self transformation resides in the practice of the spiritual disciplines. Willard explains why the disciplines work and how their practice affirms life to the fullest.

The revered Christian author whose bestselling classics include The Divine Conspiracy and The Spirit of the Disciplines provides a new model for how we can present the Christian faith to others. When Christians share their faith, they often appeal to reason, logic, and the truth of doctrine. But these tactics often are not effective. A better approach to spread Christ's word, Dallas Willard suggests, is to use the example of our own lives. To demonstrate Jesus's message, we must be transformed people living out a life reflective of Jesus himself, a life of love, humility, and gentleness. This beautiful model of life--this allure of gentleness--Willard argues, is the foundation for making the most compelling argument for Christianity, one that will convince others that there is something special about Christianity and the Jesus we follow.

The Great Omission: Reclaiming Jesus's Essential Teachings on Discipleship
Jesus's Last Command--Ignored The last command Jesus gave the church before he ascended to heaven was the Great Commission, the call for Christians to "make disciples of all the nations." But Christians have responded by making "Christians," not "disciples." This, according to brilliant scholar and renowned Christian thinker Dallas Willard, has been the church's Great Omission.

A Compelling Defense of the Faith for Our TimeAddressing the central question facing the church today--Is the Gospel true?--Dallas Willard offers an impassioned argument that Christian spiritual ideals are a reliable source of wisdom that should be granted the same authority as other intellectual disciplines such as science or philosophy. He shows how faith and reason are complementary and confronts the difficult issues of Christian pluralism (the challenge of other faiths) and how we can know God exists.
Renovation of the Heart (20th Anniversary Edition)
As Christians, we know that we should become more like Jesus – so we try to act differently. But changing our outward behaviour doesn’t change our hearts. Only God’s grace can do that. Renovation of the Heart lays a biblical foundation for spiritual transformation, exploring the disciplines and practices that are crucial if we are to be changed from the inside out. Immensely profound but also practical and encouraging, Dallas Willard’s insightful wisdom challenges us to rethink what it really means to become more Christlike and how we do so. This special 20th anniversary edition – featuring a new introduction by John Mark Comer, revised discussion questions and a never before published interview with Dallas Willard – shows that this dynamic and practical approach to spiritual growth is just as needed today as it was 20 years ago. It will both challenge and inspire you on the path of becoming more like Jesus and equip you to engage actively and intentionally in your spiritual formation. Renovation of the Heart has helped countless Christians begin the process of spiritual transformation. It is ideal both for anyone new to the Christian faith looking for guidance in discipleship, and those who are already Christians and want a new approach to help their spiritual growth and reaffirm their faith. Don’t settle for complacency. Accept the challenge Renovation of the Heart offers and discover what Dallas Willard describes as a divine process that "brings every element in our being, working from inside out, into harmony with the will of God." Become an intentional apprentice of Jesus Christ, changing daily as you walk with Him.

What does it mean to live in the kingdom of God in our day-to-day lives?A runaway son. A woman's frantic search for a coin. A farmer paying hired help. Jesus relied on ordinary situations like these to communicate extraordinary truths about following after him.Of course . . . not everyone who heard Jesus' parables understood what they meant. Even the disciples at times had to ask Jesus to explain the point of a story that he had just told. Jesus was always willing to explain the meaning to them and any others who sought to understand the mysteries of God's kingdom. He does the same for like-minded seekers today. The Scandal of the Kingdom Workbook, based on the teachings of the late beloved author Dallas Willard, will aid you in this kind of exploration of many of the parables that Jesus told. Each lesson will help you understand the heart behind a parable, how Jesus used it to communicate the realities of God and life in his kingdom, and how it is still revolutionary—even "scandalous"—in showing you the way in which God invites you to lead your life. This workbook is designed for use with The Scandal of the Kingdom by Dallas Willard. Each of the fifteen lessons in this workbook include these sections:Hearing What Jesus Said: The truths that Jesus was revealingThinking About What Jesus Said: How those truths apply to youResponding to What Jesus Said: What actions to take

The Disappearance of Moral Knowledge
Based on an unfinished manuscript by the late philosopher Dallas Willard, this book makes the case that the 20th century saw a massive shift in Western beliefs and attitudes concerning the possibility of moral knowledge, such that knowledge of the moral life and of its conduct is no longer routinely available from the social institutions long thought to be responsible for it. In this sense, moral knowledge—as a publicly available resource for living—has disappeared. Via a detailed survey of main developments in ethical theory from the late 19th through the late 20th centuries, Willard explains philosophy’s role in this shift. In pointing out the shortcomings of these developments, he shows that the shift was not the result of rational argument or discovery, but largely of arational social forces—in other words, there was no good reason for moral knowledge to have disappeared. The Disappearance of Moral Knowledge is a unique contribution to the literature on the history of ethics and social morality. Its review of historical work on moral knowledge covers a wide range of thinkers including T.H Green, G.E Moore, Charles L. Stevenson, John Rawls, and Alasdair MacIntyre. But, most importantly, it concludes with a novel proposal for how we might reclaim moral knowledge that is inspired by the phenomenological approach of Knud Logstrup and Emmanuel Levinas. Edited and eventually completed by three of Willard’s former graduate students, this book marks the culmination of Willard’s project to find a secure basis in knowledge for the moral life. The Open Access version of this book, available at www.taylorfrancis.com, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives (CC-BY-NC-ND) 4.0 license.
Hearing God – Developing a Conversational Relationship with God
"God spoke to me." "The Spirit spoke to my heart." "God revealed the idea to me." Being close to God means communicating with him--telling him what is on our hearts in prayer and hearing and understanding what he is saying to us. It is this second half of our conversation with God that is so important but that can also be so difficult. How do we hear his voice? How can we be sure that what we think we hear is not our own subconscious? What role does the Bible play? What if what God says to us is not clear? The key, says best-selling author Dallas Willard, is to focus not so much on individual actions and decisions as on building our personal relationship with our Creator. In this updated and expanded edition of Willard's beloved book, originally published as In Search of Guidance, you'll gain rich spiritual insight into how we can hear God's voice clearly and develop an intimate partnership with him in the work of his kingdom. Including new material from Dallas Willard's teaching at the Renovaré Institute and reformatted to be even easier to read, this classic continues to endure as one of today's best resources for learning to listen closely to God.
A Place for Truth – Leading Thinkers Explore Life`s Hardest Questions
Many today pursue knowledge and even wisdom. But what about truth? In an age that disputes whether truth can be universalized beyond one's own personal experience, it seems quaint to speak of finding truth. But whether in the ivory towers of the academy or in the midst of our everyday lives, we continue to seek after the true, the beautiful and the good. Since its founding at Harvard in 1992, The Veritas Forum has provided a place for the university world to explore the deepest questions of truth and life. What does it mean to be human? Does history have a purpose? Is life meaningful? Can rational people believe in God? Now gathered in one volume are some of The Veritas Forum's most notable presentations, with contributions from Francis Collins, Tim Keller, N. T. Wright, Mary Poplin and more. Volume editor Dallas Willard introduces each presentation, highlighting its significance and putting it in context for us today. Also included are selected question and answer sessions with the speakers from the original forum experiences. Come eavesdrop on some of today's leading Christian thinkers and their dialogue partners. And consider how truth might find a place in your own life.
