Love Your Gay Neighbor tells the story of God, finds a reliable definition of love, shows how people in the Bible demonstrate that love, and equips you to love your gay neighbors. You will find answers to such questions as these: What happened to God? What caused Him to punish and destroy homosexuals in earlier times? Why does He write such things in his Book-what things happened that resulted in Him feeling the way He does about homosexual behavior? If God hates sin so much, why is He so patient with sinners? Is He a God of wrath or of love?-and how does this relate to homosexuality? From this book you will learn to love as God loves by understanding and sharing His views.Do not be fooled by my simple words and short sentences. "Theology" is the study of God, and telling the story of God is deeply theological. In this book you will discover things not taught in seminary, yet I deliberately write in plain English at the eighth grade reading level. This is true of both the theological and cultural vocabulary. The gay world has many words to describe its various sexual preferences. To avoid confusion and to make the language simple, this book uses only two words: homosexual and gay-both used in a gender-neutral way.HomosexualI use the word "homosexual" for a person who experiences sexual attraction for someone of the same sex. Such an attraction fits the category of temptation. Temptation is not sin. Temptation that is acted upon is sin. Many followers of Jesus endure tremendous same-sex attraction but never act on that temptation. They practice celibacy just as Jesus did. They do not define their lives by their sexual orientation but rather transcend this temptation the same way the alcoholic does who stands up at the AA meeting and says, "Hi. My name is insert name here], I am an alcoholic, and no alcohol has passed my lips in 37 years...."I am not sure why such persons continue to identify themselves by either their beverage or their sexual preferences, but since they do, I respect and use their vocabulary.GayI use the word "gay" for a person who practices homosexual behavior whether in defiance or ignorance regarding the Bible's clear teaching against this sin. Some of these individuals are militant and vocal advocates of the homosexual cultural revolution that includes gay marriage. Many others quietly ignore the publicity and merely indulge their desires in private.Book I of this collection, The Big Picture, explains why both homosexuals and gays desperately need you to show them accurately the love that is of God. Book II, The Love Picture, gives many examples from the Bible of people who genuinely loved homosexual and gay neighbors. Book III, The Gay Picture, summarizes recent events making this book necessary while providing final instructions on how to love, and what the result of your loving is likely to be.CONTENTSIntroduction: The Hair DresserBook I: The Big Picture1. The Shattered Urn: An Allegorical History of the Universe
Lord William's perfect world is shattered by Deception. Now locked in a dungeon awaiting execution, he thinks about his failure as Captain of the Castle, Governor of the Wall, and Keeper of the Gates of Havilah. From the prison cell he writes this gripping memoir of devastating loss. Haunted by the spectre of the loathsome creature Bwing who occupies the next cell, Lord William explores the roots of the human condition: loss of identity and the quest to regain it. A dead man already, he can afford to face the hardest questions-even the most profound and deeply disturbing loss of his own gender identity. After 40 days of fasting, the real story begins....Readers often compare this story to The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis and The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan.Runyon skillfully combines character, mood, and setting to present this haunting story in simple prose that follows Lord William (both a leader and an "everyman") into spiritual warfare. Effectively depicting the challenges of mankind in recognition of and relationship to good and evil, beauty and ugliness, despair and joy, justice and forgiveness, truth and deception, condemnation and redemption, this gripping work holds the reader's interest with suspense and mystery, humor and horror, love and hate in an imaginary yet very familiar world, peopled with imaginary yet very familiar characters. Vibrant descriptions transport readers to depths and heights of recognition with dark despair or fresh delight. The story alone holds the interest; profound truths inherent to the story remind the reader of the outcomes of the momentous decisions we all make in life." -Marvelle Vannest"The Shattered Urn articulates fresh biblical insights on pressing issues that plague our culture." -Rev. G. Harry Bonney"A wonderful modern recapitulation of John Bunyan's style to tell a story that is accessible to all ages. A delightful, imaginative story full of wisdom." -Marsha Daigle-Williamson, Ph. D."An unforgettably detailed depiction of mankind's spiritual journey to both degradation and redemption. Profound insights shine like jewels in this masterful allegory." - Carol Morrisey"Vivid contrast marks this novel. Black is darkness incarnate; White is dazzling light. Many shades of gray are nuanced, and much is revealed in the shadows." -Virgil B. Hartgerink

Ferguson's Tractor-biography: And Selected Ruminations
The literary genre "missions fiction" barely existed at all until Ferguson crept out of the weeds to shyly confess the dismal details of her shattered dreams due to a life of abuse, pride, and abandonment. A Celebrate Recovery-type testimony, Part I details a coming of age allegory about an old lady tractor destined for the scrap heap until rescued, restored, and put to redemptive use. Agents of change in her journey to joy include the young farmer Virgil Hartgerink, the energetic mice children, a canny mechanic, and most notably the underground listener Benjamin Titus Mole, PhD. In Part II, Ferguson emerges as a wise advice columnist and seasoned missionary whose humor-laced good judgment derives from a hard life of both toil and treasure.
