Corinna, A-Maying the Apocalypse simultaneously celebrates and laments that "we are but decaying." Betraying a love of old poems and symbols and new words and forms, these are poems where "the moon's spritzing its perfumes and the phlegm is thick and fast" over cities and Starbucks and suburbs. The poet is in love with the rhythm of the man-made world, and "the rhythm is so strong sometimes / it blows up the room."

An intensely personal, surreal imagining of how humans might survive industrialization. In Slater Orchard, a cleaning woman navigates a half-imaginary world ravaged by industrial waste and pollution. As she labors to grow pear trees in a dumpster, appearances unravel around and within her, and the orchard becomes a burial ground. We begin to question both the reliability of the narrator and of consensual reality. With sharp wit and precise diction, Darcie Dennigan calls on and works in the lineage of great modernist women, from Clarice Lispector to Marie Redonnet. Slater Orchard is thoroughly contemporary in its themes, however, evincing dire questions of rampant capitalism and climate change that are rapidly changing our world and the exigencies of living in it.

Little Neck is a feverish and hypnotic excavation of grief and inheritance, told from the na ve perspective of a girl abandoned in a cemetery as she unearths her sinister family history. Haunting and cinematic, Dennigan's second novel is set in a small New England town steeped in secrets. It follows the life of a girl who grows up tending graves under the guidance of a beloved groundskeeper. Her world unravels when he catches her exhuming a body, and she is sent to apprentice with the town's tombstone carvers. As the girl learns fragments of her hidden past, a dark family history begins to consume her. Little Neck explores themes of inheritance, desire, and grief, probing the question: Can we escape the mistakes of our parents, even when their identities are a mystery? With echoes of gota Krist f, Marguerite Duras, and Marie Redonnet, Dennigan crafts a tragic, darkly humorous meditation on family and the secrets that shape us.
