Trevor Clegg is on a day trip to Blackpool, taking a welcome break from his boring job in the office. Childhood memories come flooding back when he sees Blackpool Tower: building sandcastles on the beach, the donkey rides and, most of all, the trip to the top of the Tower. Admiring the wonderful views from the observation deck of Blackpool Tower, he hears a flapping noise high above him and trains his binoculars on to the spot. He sees a young seagull trapped by its neck in the tower's cables. As a bird lover, he feels he has to try and free it. He finds a spiral staircase and climbs the stairs to the higher level, not realising his life is about to change... and an exciting adventure is about to begin.
