Born with two larger, stronger brothers, Cordelia learns very early how to stand up for herself. Her parents are proud of her courage and tenacity, but they have no idea how valuable those characteristics will be when their peaceful valley home is threatened. Her father, Corzell has a premonition that something evil is coming to the valley. But the five valley clans are still caught off-guard when the Krat clan, led by Captain Kratt invade the valley and start to banish other magpie clans to take over the clan lands. During the fight to repel the invaders, many lives are lost. After receiving a head injury and falling into the back of a ute, Cordelia is whisked away to a property hundreds of kilometres from the valley. With no memory of her former life, she must re-discover who she is and where she is from, before finding her way back to the valley to seek revenge on Kratt. When she returns, what greets her is not one problem but two. In the final fight, assistance comes from an unlikely source.

NOTES ON… CARING Discover the connection between care and healing with this transformative book Care is often regarded as fundamental to the nursing profession, almost synonymous. The relationship between care and nursing is presented as though no further explanation is required, no theorisation of what it means to care, and no elaboration of the role played by care in nursing as a profession and a practice. Given the agreed-upon centrality of care to nursing, there is an urgent need for a work analysing this key relationship and what it can mean for nursing professionals. Notes On… Caring meets this need with a clear, concise discussion of caring in the healthcare context. Beginning from the premise that care is essential to fostering the health and healing of others, it sets out to clarify the subject and articulate an ethic of care that can be cultivated in nursing and medical practice. With the COVID-19 pandemic placing nursing care more than ever at the forefront of public health, there has never been a better time to understand what it means for nurses to care. This book is ideal for all nurses, midwives, and other medical professionals or students.

Stanley's Values-Based Leadership in Healthcare proposes a bold new theory of leadership to help drive positive change in healthcare organisations. The theory of 'Congruent Leadership' is defined and presented through a series of corporate and clinical case studies and examples, which guide the reader through the possibilities for using their own values to inform best practice. Parallels are drawn between iconic historical figures and events, to show that healthcare professionals can be courageous leaders by following their values and learning from great leaders past and present. To aid understanding each chapter includes scenarios and reflective exercises to help readers grasp the application of theory to practice. By using an accessible frame of reference, Stanley outlines a refreshing alternative to existing theories of leadership and thoughtfully encourages practitioners to act in ethically-informed ways.

The first and only anthology of key writings about Glacier National Park, this comprehensive collection ranges from Native American myths to early exploration narratives to contemporary journeys, from investigations of the park’s geology and biology to hair-raising encounters with wild animals, fires, and mountain peaks. Soon after the park was established in 1910, visitors began to arrive, often with pen in hand. They included such well-known authors as mystery writer Mary Roberts Rinehart, historian Agnes C. Laut, fiction writer Dorothy Johnson, humorist Irvin S. Cobb, poet Vachel Lindsay, and artist Maynard Dixon—all featured in the book. Readers will encounter colorful characters who lived in and around the park in its early days, including railroad magnate and conservationist Louis Hill, renegade ranger and poacher Joe Cosley, bootlegger Josephine Doody, and old-time cowboy guide Jim Whilt. Blackfeet and Kalispel myths, politically charged descriptions by early explorers such as John Muir and George Bird Grinnell, and full-color reproductions of the illustrated letters of cowboy artist and Glacier resident Charles M. Russell are also included. Copublished with the Glacier National Park Conservancy. The Glacier National Park Conservancy preserves the Park for generations to come.
