Born and raised in the notoriouly dangerous Englewood, Chicago, DeeDee must fight to overcome all negative forces in her life, and dare to dream of something better...Armed with nothing but hope for a better future, DeeDee braces herself for the literal fight of her life. Dream, I told the story of my youth. There was much to tell. From "Grandma" - a towering woman who stood 6'4" and resented my mother's existence, to my mother herself, a loving, sensitive woman with no birth certificate and no knowledge of her past. My family's story is one alive with color, desperation, twists, and surprises - and most of all, hope. Dream depicted the strange and sometimes unbelievable circumstances that my mother and I moved through to create the family I have today
