This book is an excellent tool to help you gauge if you are ready to start a successful business. I use the word successful because this book helps you bring this out in yourself. This is not a book about what to do when you run out of options. T This book describes the foundational elements necessary to start a successful business. It is fertile material for anyone who has a dream to start a business. It is a no nonsense approach to the steps that you absolutely must take before you turn on the "Open" sign. Mr. Drakeford has taken the bold step to lay his soul bare and share the steps and missteps that he has taken. I applaud his contribution to the global discourse and wish you the best. -Marcus Tyrance, M.S.M. Senior Business Director Union Pacific Railroad

This book is for the new proposal writer who is interested in learning more about how to win proposals. This book provides a 40,000 foot generalist view of proposal writing from two of seasoned professionals with over 50 years of experience. Here we simplify the proposal writing process to provide five overarching concepts for effective grant and bid proposals. We believe true scholarship involves the ability for intellectuals to make the complex simple and the haphazard coordinated. It is in this spirit that this book uses mnemonic devices, alliteration, humor and whatever methods needed to effective communicate highly technical work.

The theme of this book is that purpose can only be learned, lived, and taught through the lens of lifestyle. It is in the balanced Purpose Lifestyle where all the multiple dimensions and layers of the human experience are in harmony moving towards purpose. This positive forward motion then bends reality in the direction of your Purposeful Lifestyle and shines as an example enlightenment. The Purpose Lifestyle is also a warning sign ⚠️ to those of us who live a stress-filled existence in pursuit of goals that glitter but are essentially empty and purposeless. This book describes a significant shift in thinking about our internal values, work, and start-ups. In this book I propose that life is big enough to begin doing what you were born to do now. Through pedagogy and technology this book shows the reader how to launch a purpose-driven startup for free. Here you will find the Purpose University Curriculum (c) and our five-step process to launch a purpose-driven start-up business or nonprofit in 24 hours. All the answers to the Purpose Lifestyle are inside of you, you already have the gifts and talents to do your purpose in life. This book begins the small steps toward doing what you were born to do today. In many ways this book is a practical response to the inspirational directions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. when he said, " you don't have to see the entire staircase just take the first step in faith." I believe the first step is living the Purpose Lifestyle. This book is an effort to cultivate a mindset of inclusion and empower leaders to re-create this mindset through story-listening. In Chapter 1, we set the stage by discussing the art of story-listening and examining the research method of autoethnography. In Chapters 2 through 8, we practice story-listening by reading the diverse stories of courageous co-contributors. In Chapters 9 through 11, we examine three academic articles which utilize life-stories to introduce; a) the new construct of 'dross education, ' b) a grounded theory on the process of finding one's calling in life, and c) a historical look at social entrepreneurship at HBCUs, and a prescription for liberal arts schools to create inclusion by cultivating social entrepreneurs who wrap entities around their positively constructed identities. In Chapter 12, "I Failed" I briefly walk the reader through one of my private failures on race to model self-reflection. In Chapters 13 through 22, we provide leaders and teachers practical inclusion training activities. In summation, our book provides narratives, counter-narratives, academic research, and activities to better understand the Art of Story-Listening in theory and practice. The selected voices are former students, colleagues, and professors who share their stories and lessons on inclusion. It is our hope that this book helps your everyday practice in the craft of mindfulness and the art of story-listening.
