In The Name of Justice: The Erica Blackstone Chronicles is the spin-off of the three-book Broken Promises series. The main character Erica Blackstone former crime reporter forms a private investigation firm with Jasmine Jefferson (JJ), Jefferson and Blackstone Investigations (JBI). In their first year of partnership, they take on a child custody case of a close friend of JJ's (Benjamin Bailey). Benjamin hires JBI to investigate his soon-to-be ex-wife (Nina) to prove she is unfit to care for their two minor children. Nina will stop at nothing in her quest to get full custody of her children. The devious plan she devises is shocking and gives Benjamin proof that his wife has lost all touch with reality. As the case progresses, Erica and JJ's personal and private lives begins to spiral out of control when inappropriate pictures are sent to Erica's children's school and to JJ's husband (Lewis). On top of that, JJ's infant son (Leo) is kidnapped which leaves Erica to not only operate the firm alone, but also to assist in the search for the missing child.
