This is the story of a young woman from Ireland who lives in New York City. Her parents die, and she is on her own. She is beautiful and she marries a wealthy man who is unfaithful to her. Her husband Henry is on a business trip and he falls off his horse and is killed. Kathryn Inherits a 20,000 acre ranch. ***** "Now Kathryn, there's another investment that your late husband made, that you were unaware of. It is a ranch with 20,000 acres." She asked, "A 20,000 acre ranch, cowboys and all?" Mr. Johnson was now smiling, "Yes my dear, a ranch that has cows, horses, cowboys and all. He said, "Kathryn, as your attorney I would advise you to sell it. It's no place for a woman, especially one who is young, widowed and knows nothing about ranching." Kathryn replied, "Henry told me I didn't have a brain in my head, and all that I had was a beautiful face. He further said that I would never amount to anything without him." Kathryn said firmly, "I want to keep that ranch, and to prove to myself that I have a good brain, and that I can do anything I set my mind to." ***** Kathryn walked into her parlor and standing there impatiently was Mr. Rainey, her ranch foreman with his hat in hand, and looking very disgruntled. He said, "I'm quittin' ma'am, it's because you're a woman." Kathryn angrily asked, "And what does my being a woman have to do with anything, Mr. Rainey?" He said, "You're a city woman and you don't know a thing about ranching. You should 'a sold this ranch to some man who at least understood how to run it." He continued, "Another thing, I don't want to babysit no woman and teach her how to run a ranch."He continued "You send Ed to Denver and put an ad in the newspaper for a foreman. And be sure you tell 'em they'll be workin' for a woman." ***** Kathryn was now running for her life. She heard the cow close behind her, and suddenly strong arms picked her up and pulled her to safety. Terrified, she found she was on the lap of a man. She couldn't see his face as he raced his horse away to safety. Kathryn turned and noticed the handsome stranger was clean shaven, and his hair was cut... and he smelled absolutely wonderful. He had on some type of men's tonic that was close to what Henry used to wear. Sitting on his lap, she didn't notice any body odor that was prevalent with of the ranch hands. She leaned back and absentmindedly took a small sniff. The stranger let out a small chuckle and said, "Yes, ma'am I do bathe, and if water's available I do it as often as possible." He said, "I saw the advertisement in the Denver paper, and came out to apply for the job as ranch foreman." ***** This book is clean and wholesome. It is written for families, LDS, and Christians. There are no sexual innuendos or swearing. My youngest reader is a boy 9 years old. My oldest is a woman 103 years old. There is action, suspense, adventure, love, and you will even shed a few tears. Caleb and Sam were married by Brigham Young and they now had a son and were living at their ranch. Brigham Young then called Caleb's father John on a mission. The mission was for the rest of his life. He was called to marry a divorced woman from Boston who had been abused by her past husband, and she has two children. ****** While at the ranch, Caleb receives a letter from Salt Lake City, Box B. Whoever gets a letter from Box B will be called on a mission. *****Here are short inserts from different chapters in the book. *****There were about forty Indians in the group. They came at a full gallop into camp and then came to a dead stop about two wagon lengths from the Elders, raising dust and showering them pebbles. Caleb noticed that some of the Indians were holding their rifles at the ready, while others had notched their bow strings with arrows. The Elders show no fear, and each one was praying fervently for divine protection. President Young had promised them safety from the Indians, and each Elder believed in his promise. *****By now there was a long line of old timers and it was only those who had gotten in on the betting and skinning, who could participate in the binding ceremony. Every man was reaching deep down to bring up their own personal binding agreement, and each man spit twice on his hand. There was one spit per agreement. One spit for their wager on Caleb's wrestling agreement at ten to one, and the other spit for Caleb's agreement with Preacher Jenkins, for use of his church for two Sabbaths. Caleb saw that some of the men combined one humongous chunk of tobacco juice on the palm of their hand, before they shook the preacher's hand.Every man eagerly stood in line. This was payback time for ol' Jenkins, because he had fleeced not only them, but many members of his congregation, with his giant wrestler. The small crowd of old men was building to a fevered pitch, and everyone wanted the wrestling match to get started. *****Preacher Jenkins's walked over to them and said, "I told ya I would run ya out of town, just like yer 'Marmons' in the past and I'm doing it again, but ya won't be tarred and feathered. This time my friends are gonna bury ya both alive," and he gave a sardonic laugh. The Elders dug a hole in the ground for the next hour. The leader told them to stop. He said, "Preacher Jenkins said since ya ar companions yer to sit next to each other and we'll put the dirt on top of ya, 'til we kin cover both of yer heads." Caleb was just about to make his move, when one man hit him from behind with the butt of his rifle, and it knocked him into the hole. The leader pushed Elder Orrin into the hole and told him to help Caleb sit up and he was told to sit next to him. Caleb moaned and came to. Elder Orrin said, "Elder, I hope this gets us the kingdom." Caleb said, "I don't know why Elder, but I still think everything will still work out." "Yea," replied Elder Orrin, "The only way we'll get out of this hole is when we're resurrected." Two of the men started filling the hole and shoved the dirt in and around the two elders. The dirt was up to their shoulders and the leader said, "Let's cover 'em up and git out of here. This place gives me the creeps." *****This book is clean and wholesome without foul language or sexual innuendos. It is for family reading and any age can read this book and enjoy its contents. Have a great read.

This is a story of a family who lived in the Arkansas wilderness in the 1850's. The father and son break up an Osage Indian attack on a helpless Wichita Tribe while the men are out hunting buffalo. Because the two white men stopped the attack, the Osage warriors retaliate and take revenge by attacking the settlers cabin, and the mother is killed. The father and his two children escape, and run for their lives as the Osage Warriors are in pursuit. ***** The father is John Morgan with his son Caleb, and beautiful daughter Samantha. ***** As Caleb started to mount, he heard the thundering of horse hoofs behind him. Turning, he saw the other Indian with his bow in hand and the arrow aimed directly at him. The warrior had a menacing grin of satisfaction, as he pointed the arrow directly at Caleb's chest. ***** "Now both of you just smile real nice and talk to them, and Samantha, let them know that you are their queen." Again, John reiterated, "Samantha, these mountain men respect a woman, and if they know you are married, they will respect you and your husband. But if they find out you aren't married, there are some men here who would kill Caleb and I, and take you for themselves." Samantha whispered, "Don't worry Pa, we'll try real hard to make it convincing." ***** The word was out, "There was going to be a wrestling match " and soon both whites and Indians were running to see the match. Within fifteen minutes, there were well over two hundred men gathered in a half circle. They gawked at the giant of a man. He had taken off his shirt and was flexing his rippling muscles. Everyone was watching to see if the young boy would get killed. They were yelling it was a match between 'David and Goliath.' ***** Caleb walked over and pointed to the wagon box, and said "This box is deeper than the other wagon boxes. He said, "I wonder...." Then he walked over to another wagon and found an ax, then came back to the first wagon and commenced to chop at the box. Soon the bottom gave way, and Caleb reached in. He pulled out a locked carved wooden box. There was no key, so he took his knife blade to pry open the box. As it gave way he found three leather pouches, one was quite large. Caleb handed Samantha the heaviest pouch and asked her to open it. She did so and was surprised to see it was filled with gold coins. The second smaller pouch contained numerous sparkling stones in an assortment of colors. The third pouch contained women's jewelry and a man's pocket watch. He searched the wagon for some identification, but could find nothing. He took the three pouches and put them in his saddle bag, and put the ax in one of the mule packs. Caleb looked around at the dead and said, "We don't dare bury any of these folks because if the Indians come back, they'll know that we've been here. Let's get out of here while we've still got our hair " ***** This book is clean and wholesome, for LDS, Christian and Family reading. A person can read this book at any age. My youngest reader is a boy 9 years old, and my oldest is a woman who is 103 years old. There are no swearing, or sexual innuendos and when you finish reading you will, want to have a better relationship with your family, neighbors and friends. Have a great read.

This is the third volume of 'Jacob Series.'In the second volume, Riding for the Brand, Charles (Cookie) was known for his refusal to bathe. The women at the ranch dump him in the water trough and wash him thoroughly. A 'gentleman's class' is being taught at the Windslow ranch. Cookie excels and not only becomes a gentleman, but a culinary chef and is well known throughout the territory. There is a transformation, and Cookie is now known as Charles. ***** Unseen Enemies "Are you ready to leave?" asked Jacob, "Yes sir, I'm ready and I am looking forward to finding me a good wife." "Well," replied Zac, "Make sure you get a good one like Elizabeth and not one like Mary." Jacob cut in, "No, you want a young woman, like Mary, and not an old one like Elizabeth." Charles laughed and was grateful for the light banter between these two good men. He hoped he could find friends as true as they were to each other. ***** Next to the road, Charles saw a man who had been stripped of everything but his under clothing. He had been beaten and had been struggling to crawl into the underbrush. Charles looked around to see if they were alone, then took his canteen, dismounted and knelt next to the man. He was just a young man and his hair was matted with dried blood. Both of his eyes were swollen from his beating, and he had cuts on his face and head. His eyes opened a slit and he weakly said, "Please help me." ***** Charles asked, "Then can you explain the Lazy S brand on your horse's hip. That's his father's ranch brand. That's a hanging offense where I come from." The man on the left looked at the other two and Charles knew exactly what they were going to do. They went for their guns and Charles scatter gun barked and caught the first two men dead center, and the third man dropped to the ground, firing his revolver ***** As Buck crossed the stream he stepped into some quicksand, and his front feet went down to his chest. Jacob leaped off and urged Buck to try and get out. Buck reared backwards and finally pulled his front feet out. As Jacob was checking Buck's legs, he heard a thrashing sound coming through the heavy underbrush. As he reached for his gun, out charged a big longhorn bull. Jacob fired point blank and the bull went down, and then got up and charged again. Jacob fired again, and his bullet hit the bull in the center of its forehead, and it fell, just three feet in front of him. ***** Before she could do anything, her large Indian captor grabbed her wrists and started dragging her to his tepee. This time Mary fought like a female cougar defending her cubs... except she was the cub. She kicked and tried to bite her captive, but all he did was laugh. Mary's heart raced and suddenly she got a sickening feeling of what was about to happen. The bile raced up her throat and she gagged. She pleaded in her mind, "God, I know You heard my prayers, and I felt peace that all would be well. Why are You letting him do this to me?"

This is fourth and final book of the "Jacob Series." Graff and his filthy partners are still around. They set up an ambush for Zac and Jacob. Johnson shoots Buck because he felt he was tricked by Jacob. He tried to ride Buck and was bucked off, and now he wants revenge. ***** Stephens Confederate Cavalry is wrecking havoc throughout the area, and it will only be a short time before his soldiers takes vengeance on Jacob and Zac's families, and everyone on the Windslow Ranch. ***** The Preacher said with venom, "And another thing, these false preachers are Mormons. They were run out of Missouri and Illinois for their false preaching; and now they're moving to the Great Salt Lake Basin, where they are gathering like flies on a dead carcass." Rockford paused to get their attention. "I want all of you to shun these evil men. They will try and take your money, and they will eat you out of house and home. They have no money, and they will sponge off anyone. Do you hear me? I want you to run them out of the area if they come to your home." His voice got higher and he continued. "They got more than one wife; and they will try and take yours " This brought a gasp from the congregation. A voice was heard in the back, "They can have mine " ***** Mary and Jacob lost their baby daughter 'Jillian', at three months of age. They are now trying to find peace with the death, and they are asking Preacher Rockford what he believes is the fate of their daughter. ***** Preacher Rockford said, "I believe that God decides in advance which individuals will be saved and which will be lost. This would be true not only for adults, but also for infants and children who had died without being baptized. God chooses who will be eternally tormented in Hell, and others who will go to Heaven." Mary gasped and said, "Surly Preacher Rockford, you don't believe that? Our little daughter didn't even know right from wrong. How could God condemn an innocent baby to Hell, and allow another baby go to Heaven " ***** Riley turned to Stephens and said, "They want Morgan." Stephens swore, and asked, "Who are they...his friends?" Riley turned and looked at the warrior and said. "No. They want Morgan because he was responsible for killing over one hundred Crow warriors; and also for the death of nine Shoshone warriors when they tried to kidnap Morgan's wife." Stephens said, "They can have him when I'm finished with him. I first plan to disembowel Morgan." Riley said, "I don't think so, Lieutenant. The warrior said, whatever we do to Morgan, they will do to us." Stephens cursed again and said, "I have waited too long to kill this man, and I want to do it myself. I think they just want to rescue Morgan and take us as prisoners." As if the Indian had been reading Stephens' mind, he took an arrow from his quiver and notched it and aimed at Stephens. The Indian let the arrow lose and it hit Jacob in his right side, and Jacob cried out in pain. The brave let loose another arrow, and this time it went into Jacob's leg and again he screamed in pain. The Warrior spoke with Riley and said, "You think me friend of white man? Me no kill him now, him have many days to die. You make choice; you die or Morgan die." ***** This book is clean and wholesome and written with out any swearing or sexual innuendos.
