Debates between Christians and atheists often focus on Genesis chapters 1 through 11. Honest Questions: A Personal Commentary on Genesis 1 through 11 discusses some of the controversial questions and then gives personal insights into deeper questions. For example, going beyond, "How long did Creation take?" the first chapter of Genesis answers the question, "Who created the universe?"God is not embarrassed by honest questions. He is the author of truth. Like most evangelicals, the author believes that God inspired the writers of the Bible. So, understanding what God says is important. Faith in God and confidence in the Word of God, the Bible, is the starting point of this book.Honest Questions: A Personal Commentary on Genesis 1 through 11 presents insights into the message of Genesis, and sometimes suggests an untraditional interpretation. Each chapter also includes devotional thoughts on the current passage for meditation. Even though the message of Genesis is thousands of years old, it is relevant to life today. One can identify with the people in the stories. Popular culture today is similar to ancient civilizations. God is the same today as back then. Unlike some others, this book is not designed to convince a skeptic to become a believer, nor to help win points in a debate with an atheist. This book also does not try to explain whether modern science and Genesis are compatible, nor does it argue whether secular mainstream science is valid, or not.Honest Questions: A Personal Commentary on Genesis 1 through 11 is not an academic commentary, but the opinions of evangelical scholars are carefully considered. The book includes meditations, a wealth of Bible cross-references, citations with a bibliography, and an index. The following is a list of chapter titles.Introduction Part I AdamHow long did Creation take?Did evolution really happen?Did mankind come from monkeys? Are people naturally good?Is revenge acceptable? How long did the patriarchs live? Revelation: A Devotional Commentary is a study of the book of Revelation in the Bible which has a devotional emphasis. It applies Revelation to contemporary Christian living, rather than analyzing theology or current events. Revelation: A Devotional Commentary is for busy Christians who have pushed Revelation aside as too weird or too complicated. It suggests personal applications, builds faith, and stimulates worship.Revelation: A Devotional Commentary is based on the conviction that any ordinary Christian can read and understand the main ideas of Revelation, and find it relevant to life today. The body of this book is comments on the scriptures in everyday language, punctuated by frequent pauses for worship. It is not an academic commentary, but notes include cultural information and definitions of key Greek words from commonly available references, such as Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible and Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words.Revelation: A Devotional Commentary views Revelation as a panorama, a large tapestry, rather than as a predictive chronology of the second coming of Jesus. Even though Christians have many different interpretations of details about the second coming of Jesus, one thing is guaranteed, Jesus will come back to Earth again, this time with power and glory. Revelation: A Devotional Commentary focuses on these points about His second coming, which are clearly taught by other scriptures: (1) Jesus will personally return.(2) Believers will rise from the dead to eternal life.(3) Unbelievers will face eternal judgment.(4) Expect Him soon Features include the following. The full text of Revelation is included from the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB), which is a modern translation based on the latest evangelical Bible scholarship.Dramatic woodcut prints by Albrecht D rerillustrate the scriptures. They were published over five hundred years ago.Meditations are set apart and scattered through the book for personal application, prayer, and worship.Personal study questions at the end of each sectionstimulate thinking about the main ideas of Revelation.Plans for discussion group study are in the appendix.A wealth of Bible cross references are noted. An index covers scripture references and topics. The following is a list of chapter titles.IntroductionOvercomersCreation GroansWarVictoryConclusion

When Jesus was on earth, he healed the sick, cast out demons, and raised the dead. His disciples saw what he did. The Kingdom of Heaven had come to earth. Some commentators on the Kingdom emphasize the return of Jesus to Planet Earth when his reign will be established over all. Others emphasize service to mankind today as the way to express Kingdom values. What did Jesus say about the Kingdom of Heaven? The Kingdom of Heaven: A Devotional Commentary on the Discourses of Jesus in Matthew is a devotional study of five extensive passages in the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus explained how a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven should live, the mission of disciples, what the Kingdom is like, who is the greatest in the Kingdom, and the signs of his return.Instead of analyzing Christian theology, The Kingdom of Heaven: A Devotional Commentary on the Discourses of Jesus in Matthew consists of passage-by-passage personal applications for daily life. Most illustrations are based on the recollections of actual people and events by the author or his friends and family. Although this is not an academic commentary, notes include selected cultural information. Notes also include definitions of key Greek words from Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible. The Christian Standard Bible, a modern translation by evangelical scholars, is the primary translation. Features include a wealth of Bible cross references, and an index of all Bible references and section titles.
