Howdy I'm Eddie Smith and this is the story of my second romantical adventure with my new boyfriend, Whit Hall. Well, we're back in Daytona Beach and have been for about five weeks. After everything went down with Whit's family in East Texas, it sure has been nice just to be here, getting to know each other more and more every day. Mostly, we've been watching old Perry Mason episodes on DVD and eating lots of pizza. But Whit has been going to the gym every day. I go too... Sometimes...Anyway... We woke up this morning and were both freezing We just had a cold snap. They're rare in North Central Florida, but they do happen. And, on top of all that, the heater has gone out. But, cuddled up next to Whit is keeping us both warm, so I guess it might be not so bad. You know how weird it is when you thought someone was dead but then you find out they aren't? Kinda freaky, right? Well, that's what's just happened. See, there's this guy who used to be a private detective here in town with his husband who was an attorney. And that was way back in the day. They left Daytona in the 50s and moved down to Fort Lauderdale. I think they were required to do so by the gay committee or something like that. Anyway, I just got a call from a guy who says that Ronnie Grisham (he's the private eye I mentioned) is not only alive, but he's living in a big house over on the beachside. Not only that, he's 102 years old and he wants to see me. Wow Whit and I are on our way over right now. I have a feeling something big is about to go down. I can't wait to find out what happens next

Monday, June 6, 1966 Nick, Carter, and the gang are off to the bright lights of Broadway Angela Lansbury is starring at the Winter Garden in Mame, and everyone is excited to see the biggest smash hit since Fiddler on the Roof Well, almost everyone. Mike has demanded a motorcycle road trip up the Hudson River Valley as compensation for having to squeeze into a tux. Poor guy Reluctantly, Nick agrees and, the day after a fabulous night of singing and dancing, they're loaded up and making their way over the George Washington Bridge, up the scenic Palisades Parkway, and heading to points north. But the trip is over when one of their friends takes a spill on the highway and ends up in traction. Nick and Carter do what they can to help and then return to Manhattan to take care of pressing business in the city before flying home. However, after hearing a tale that is right out a mystery novel and receiving a desperate call about a murder, Nick and Carter head back upstate, hot on the trail of the curious case of The Manic Mechanic

Howdy I'm Eddie Smith and this is the story of my third romantical adventure with my new husband, Whit Hall. OMG Can you believe we got married? Well, anyway, we did and it's been three and change mostly blissful months and, well, that thing that everyone asks us about still hasn't happened... Not that I'm in any sort of rush. Whit and I still have lots of fun in all sorts of, uh, creative ways. In case you're wondering, the world's oldest teenager, Ronnie Grisham, is still alive and butting his nose in other people's business, namely mine and Whit's. Now he's got it in his head that we need to move even though we just bought a house in Ormond Beach, just north of Daytona. Kids these days... Watcha gonna do? Meanwhile, that made-for-TV movie that everyone's been talkin' about is set to start shooting in a day or two in a place called Hope (LOL) up in British Columbia. Because, you know, this kinda movie always gets made in Canada. To get ready for his close-up, Whit's been down in Miami working with a touchy-feely guy who's been giving him a crash course in how to act in front of a camera. He's driving back up right now and is due home any moment, so I can't talk for long. Let's see... Was there anything else I wanted to mention? Oh, right Well... Whit's nervous. Of course. And I'm trying to help him relax. And my friends in Orlando still think I've lost my mind and that I got married and bought a house too fast. That doesn't keep them away from the pool and the great view of the river, though. And my mom is doing fine in Austin. Whit's mom has been on radio silence even though she's been to see President Trump. Twice. Oh well... Ooh Gotta go. Whit just texted that he's about ten minutes away. I'm so excited about going to Canada and watching Whit become a movie star. Woo hoo I can't wait to find out what happens next

Tuesday, the seventh of October, will be a night Marveen Dodge will long remember. That was when her beau, Officer Bill Gordon, popped the question while dancing at the Trocadero. Is it true love? Tuesday, December 15, 1953 Ivan Kopek is missing and his parents desperately want Nick's help. Ike, as he's known to his friends, is quickly found once Nick, Carter, and their pals are on the case. Unfortunately, Ike's in jail for a murder he didn't commit. And it was only because he didn't get the chance to do it himself. Meanwhile, it's almost Christmas. Nick's least favorite time of the year. But, Carter wants a Christmas tree and Dr. Parnell Williams, Nick's evil bastard of a father, has summoned them both to the mansion on Sacramento Street for Christmas day at 12 noon. And they're not to be late. In the end, Christmas brings Nick & Carter a number of unexpected and life-changing packages, both big and small.

Wednesday, June 16, 1954 Construction on the new twenty-story building for Consolidated Security at the corner of Market and Montgomery is ahead of schedule, thanks to Henry and Pam. Nick is looking forward to his office on the nineteenth floor. The twentieth floor is designed to be a restaurant. He's hoping for French or Italian. Carter wants something with less garlic. But then an unknown man falls from the top of the steel skeleton and things grind to a halt. When Henry gets a late-night call warning him and Nick to not investigate, Mike takes action to protect them both but Nick gets a late-night visit from some wiseguys and it doesn't end well... for them. That's just the beginning of a tale of mobsters, refugees, and The Old Poodle Dog that twists and turns its way to a thrilling conclusion. Monday, July 5, 1954 Mildred's Diner just isn't the welcoming place it once was. Looking forward to a nice breakfast, including that chewy bacon that Nick and Carter both love, they're asked to leave. Mildred has gone back to Texas and word is they "ain't welcome." But it's a sunny July day, so Nick puts the top down on the Roadmaster and they head across the Golden Gate to Sausalito for eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee. But it seems like trouble follows them along the way and, before they know it, Nick and Carter are sitting in jail for vagrancy. After making bail, the whole team is on the job figuring what the heck is going on in sleepy Sausalito while also chasing down the missing Mildred, who may have been kidnapped or worse

Wednesday, August 11, 1954 Nick and Carter are sailing across the sea to Honolulu on an impromptu holiday. For the sake of propriety and decorum, the ship's captain pairs them off with a "lady couple" who turn out to be much more than they appear at first glance. Tuesday, June 28, 1960 Nick and Carter are about to witness history It's an exciting time in L opoldville, capital of the Belgian Congo and their temporary home on the south side of the Congo River. After living in Africa for nearly two years, they will be on the ground when the colony becomes an independent nation able to govern itself following a tragic history. They've been busy, of course. Nick owns a hotel and a clinic while Carter has opened two gyms on both sides of the river--one in L opoldville and one in Brazzaville in the French colony on the far shore. As they begin to wrap up their lives in Africa and prepare for their next big move, something terrifying and disturbing happens that suddenly accelerates their plan. Before they have time to do much more than pack a few clothes, they're unceremoniously sent down to the docks to wait for the ferry that will take them across the river and back into the safety of the French Congo. Where they go next leads them smack into the biggest challenge the two men have had to face in the 13 years since they first met across a crowded room.

Monday, August 8, 1960 It's been three weeks since the case against Nick and Carter was dismissed and life has moved on. They're at home in the big pile of rocks on Nob Hill and doing swell. He claims that only Nick will be able to catch his cheating wife in the act. And it might end up being a good deal for everyone involved. Well, almost everyone. In order to work the case, Nick decides he needs to grow out his beard so no one will recognize him as he prowls the City. Of course, Carter is along for the ride because beard burn isn't good. Thursday, December 8, 1960 Nick and Carter are jetting across the Atlantic to the island of Capri for the funeral of the Dowager Duchess of Boston. On the way, they're dropping off Marnie and her husband, Alex, so the two can spend a relaxing few days in Paris. When they arrive in Europe, Nick and Carter receive a distressing message. Paul Vermaut, their good friend from the Congo, is sick with a mysterious disease that has the doctors baffled. He's been on the run from the Congolese civil war, traveling thousands of miles over land, and is now hospitalized in Salisbury, the capital of Southern Rhodesia. Right after the funeral, Nick and Carter fly south to get Paul and bring him back to the States and, hopefully, back to health. Once they land in Salisbury, they discover Paul is dying and his lover from the Congo, Freddie Nyemba, has likely been arrested by the police for being on the grounds of the hospital illegally in an area reserved for Europeans without a pass, something required for all Africans in the British colony. Nick and Carter have to come up with a plan to sneak Freddie out of Southern Rhodesia and into the U.S. without getting caught. If they fail, he'll be deported to a land he loves but thrust back into the middle of a civil war he wants no part of...

Wednesday, November 30, 1960 It's three in the morning when the newly-installed Princess phone (with illuminated dial) next to Carter's side of the bed starts to insistently ring. Raymond Burr from TV's Perry Mason is calling and he's in a bit of a pickle. Someone stashed a corpse in his on-studio cottage and he's worried about how this might affect the show. Nick and Carter fly down where they find a handsome stiff. He was a former personal assistant and wanna-be actor who turned to one of the best-paying gigs in town: male companion. And he had a little black book chock full of famous names, home phone numbers, and careers that could easily be ruined. But only one of them is a murderer and it's up to Nick and Carter to find out who it might be...
