"Rough Set of Characters" is the true story of the Yoakums, an American family. There is nothing extraordinary about the Yoakum family's story. Countless other families on the American frontier also pushed their way through rough mountain roads, made do with what little they had in the backwoods, did battle with Native Americans who were here long before they ever came, fought and died in the wars of our country, and wished a better life for their descendants. But our family's story is unique because it is our story. It is the story of the family I never knew I had.
