Twenty-two years have passed since Aspin of Asperine, necromancer and mercenary, pulled a host of the dead from their graves to march north against his former employer, the Demon-Duke Maorg-mehl. The long years of war are finally over, and what should be peace has settled over the Seven Domains. But the politics of the new Dominion Council have proven that humans are as capable of heedless ruthlessness and senseless brutality as any demon, and as Aspin hunts down the last remnants of Maorg-mehls' demons, Aspin's enemies are plotting to remove the greatest danger to their own dominance - the Necromancer himself.
