The study of Kafka has been a respected field of research for many decades, and Gerhard Neumann is the best-known Kafka scholar. The present book documents the findings that have emerged over Neumann’s more than forty years of engagement with Kafka’s works. By exploring both thematic and editorial relationships, this volume provides two forms of access to one of the most important bodies of work in all of world literature. The author, a co-editor of critical editions of Kafka’s works, is able to speak from the perspectives of both a hermeneutist and editor. The present study presents literary scholars with the results of a concentrated reading of Kafka’s work, organized according to key thematic concepts: life, writing, anthropology, art, and mediality.

Nun kann keiner mehr sagen, "das Bewusstsein ist nicht erforschbar" Der Autor und Entdecker, GERHARD NEUMANN, hat im Alleingang, ohne gro es Aufsehen, jetzt die "Frage aller Fragen" in diesem Buch verst ndlich beantwortet. Ein Teil seiner Entdeckungen, die hier beschrieben werden, sind auch auf dem Titelblatt deutlich zu erkennen. Der Verfasser hat dazu gen gend Beweise erbracht, die nicht nur aus seinen eigenen Erkenntnissen stammen, sondern auch aus solchen wie z.B. der bekannten Split-Brain-Forschung, wof r 1981 drei Wissenschaftler zusammen den Nobelpreis erhielten. Auf diese Weise hat er sein Wissen fest untermauert. Auch ist es ihm mit wenigen neuen Begriffen, aber vielen Beispielen gelungen, ein sehr komplexes Thema f r Jedermann begreiflich zu machen. Hier erf hrt man endlich, warum wir und andere Lebewesen uns selbst wahrnehmen und erkennen k nnen. Fast alles in diesem Buch ist neu.
