Jenny is a newly qualified vet who having been a bit of a party girl at Cambridge has not achieved the academic results her professor would have wished. He is reluctant to pass her on her resit results. Jenny is offered a way into the profession by agreeing to go to work in Kenya, where they are desperate for field veterinarians. Jenny has always loved adventures and so going to Africa really appeals to her. She finds herself totally on her own in Mombasa on Christmas Eve. Men, particularly older men, find her very attractive. On the whole they go out of their way to help her. However, she finds herself in a very challenging situation and has no one available to guide her. Her courage does not desert her and she copes admirably. She meets a pilot called Matt and they become very close friends, but sadly their relationship is going to be very short. Jenny is left alone and has to rely on her fortitude to get her out of a very dark place.

Jim Scott is a veterinary surgeon who worked in Kenya, having qualified in 1966. His early career is described in 'Mating Lions' and 'Fiona'. Fiona, the love of his life, dies of cancer in 2012. He continues to practice in the UK, but his clandestine past catches up with him. He decides to set off on a bicycle ride from his home in Norfolk to Cape Town. He has many different companions riding with him in a relay to keep him company, including his five daughters. After a logistical problem in Northern Kenya, he is on his own, when he faces the most dangerous part, not only of this journey, but also of his life. This is the final book in the Mating Lions Trilogy.

Her life takes a very rapid movement upwards after she rescues Lord Carmichael, Peter's grandfather from a car accident in a deep, cold, Scottish river. The question is, 'Will this lead her back to Peter'? The first chapter of Lucy was previously published as a short story in Three Lovely Girls.

He is sent off alone to try and gain intelligence for British Army on the possible Italian invasion of Kenya. He links up with Emma, Lord Wakefields daughter who is half Italian. They experience some horrendous escapades with a camel called Freda, and fall in love. They get involved in the hostilities in the Western Desert. The chances of their survival appear to be remote. Can their love and courage save Cairo from the Axis Powers?

When they eventually meet at a reception at the High Commission, it's a case of love at first sight. They go clandestinely together at day break to Nairobi Game Park and they are lucky to see two lions mating. Their torrid affair ends in tragedy.
