Jay Fox (1870–1961) was a journalist, intellectual, and labor militant whose influence rippled across the country. In Writing Labor's Emancipation, historian Greg Hall traces Fox's unorthodox life to highlight the shifting dynamics in US labor radicalism from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century.Radicalized as a teenager after witnessing the Haymarket tragedy, Fox embarked on a lifetime of union organizing, building anarchist communities (including Home, Washington), and writing. Thanks to his sharp wit, he became an influential voice, often in dialogue with fellow anarchists such as Emma Goldman and Lucy Parsons.Hall both explores Fox's life and shines a light on the utopians, revolutionaries, and union men and women with whom Fox associated and debated. Hall's research provides valuable knowledge of the lived experiences of working-class Americans and reveals alternative visions for activism and social change.

Once you're this close to death, you start to see Hell...It's 2008, six teenagers who live together in foster care make a deal with the Devil. Twelve years later, after living the life of their dreams, Satan comes to collect. Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin. The list goes on. What do all these famous names have in common? They all perished at the ripe age of 27. No one knew where the rumors began, but whispers of a supernatural force being blamed for their untimely deaths have been circulating over the years. Some say that each made a deal with the Devil. Each made it as far as they could before he came back...Timothy Havik, Ian Mckinlay, Oren Laconte, Melanie and Danny Spencer, and Chloe Savoy all lived at Maplegrove. A foster care home. In their own way, each teen wanted more than their simple lives. After losing his art book, Oren found that it had mysteriously returned to Maplegrove. While thrilled at first, Oren discovered that the pages had been destroyed by irrelevant, indistinguishable messages. One page, in particular, contained three words. Three words each, when said aloud, summoned the Devil. That night, after each teen reads the words out loud, they are visited by an ominous being offering them the world. Twelve years later, after each teenager had been living the life of their dreams, they begin to perish one by one. Once they realize the correlation between what they wished for and who was coming after them to collect, they try to find a way to beat the Devil. Hearing tales of a monk who wrote a book called "The Devil's Bible", they try to find the 15th-century book and see if it holds the key to outsmart Satan.
