Letztlich heisst das, dass prinzipiell alle Menschen aller Kulturen aus denselben Pramissen dieselben Folgerungen ziehen, wenn sie denn keine Fehler machen. Um die leitende Hypothese zu begrunden, analysiert die Studie verschiedene Theorien der Widerspruchsfreiheit und formal gultiger Schlussfolgerung, wie sie in indischen, chinesischen und japanischen Kulturen entwickelt wurden, und vergleicht sie mit westlichen Gegenstucken. Ungeachtet der - durchaus interessanten - Unterschiede, die zwischen einzelnen LogikTheorien - im Ubrigen auch innerhalb einer Kultur - bestehen, betrachten doch all diese Theorien logische Grundgesetze wie das Widerspruchsfreiheitsprinzip (etwa in der Form A ist nicht NichtA ) als gultig, ausgenommen allein die fundamentalistischen religiosen Lehren, wie sie insbesondere in der mittelalterlichen europaischen Scholastik vertreten wurden. Neben ihren Analysen von Theorien fuhrt die Studie auch Beispiele logischen Denkens an. Sie finden sich in grosser Zahl etwa in den klassischen philosophischen Texten der verschiedenen Kulturen. Eine Besonderheit der Studie liegt darin, dass mit ihr zum ersten Mal im Westen, ja vielleicht weltweit, die LogikTheorie eines bedeutenden klassischen japanischen buddhistischen Scholastikers vorgestellt wird.

Was ist Rationalitat? Und wie ist sie zu bewerten? Lasst sich ein nicht-relativistischer Rationalitatsbegriff formulieren, der gegen die bekannten Einwande, wie sie von relativistischer Seite immer wieder erhoben werden, verteidigt werden kann? Ist Rationalitat der Humanitat forderlicher als Irrationalitat? Ist die Philosophie rationaler als der Mythos? Und dies einmal vorausgesetzt, ist sie (auch) deshalb dem Mythos vorzuziehen?"
