The first book in English to evaluate this heroic if abortive insurrection of the Tyroleans against the Napolenic new order in Europe. The uprising was motivated by the desire to shake off Bavarian control and to return to the Habsburg monarchy rather than by Pan-German interests as German nationalists have claimed.
