Northern European Emergency Vehicles

The modern emergency vehicle comes in a bewildering variety of forms and functions, but their aim is fundamentally the same – to save or preserve life and property, and maintain public safety. This book presents a photographic journey across the UK and northern Europe, looking at some of the common and not so common emergency vehicles that can be summoned to our aid and assistance. The author’s journey has taken in some of the familiar and not so familiar ‘heroes’ that serve their local communities with dedication, pride and a sense of public service. Some of the vehicles inside will be familiar to you, either in their role or even livery, while others will come as a surprise. Looking at ambulance and medical services, fire and rescue, police and law enforcement, and specialist emergency services, this carefully curated selection of photographs offers a fascinating insight into the wide variety of vehicles that can be found across northern Europe.
Depression - There's Someone In My Head But it's Not Me
A journey through life from early years to present day, however since written more events have occurred, who knows could be enough material for book two. Upon reading you might have the thinking of "this is fiction ", I kid you not, everything that you read has occurred and the struggles have and in some cases still carrying on. Any names that appear have been changed, there's no blame game, well there is but that's my demons and only people that have been involved in situations might know it's them I'm writing about. The book is a mix up of an autobiography and a journal of my life, it has a very dark and morbid in parts persona, thoughts of suicide and ending of life are mentioned, It's my views on these subjects and In no way that I would suggest someone should think about taken this sort of action . The subject and title of this book may seem of a serious medical condition, and I guess it is, however, it's mentioned in the book that I don't want the whole world knowing my business, I will, and have dealt with this condition in my own way . Although it's been suggested that I should seek medical advice, I have dealt with it my own way and have a strong feeling that once the medics get involved, I will either be in and out of therapy or hooked on some mind bending drug, well my view is that "Pills don't pay bills". My life today, in the present time frame, is far better than when I was thinking about writing this book. I have my family, my loving wife, My son, my parents are still with us, my health is pretty good, money is tight but then I have had that all my life . Work is good and really I don't want for much, there are people a lot worse off than me. I have a moany grumpy side and that seems to be more present than a happy jolly person that's locked away inside me. A wise man once said," you make your bed, you lay in it", that was my father in law, he's truly missed as is my mother in law, another saying that sticks in my mind is, " Live for the now, enjoy what you have, you can't take it with you when you go ", Very wise words . Enjoy my book.
Summers in the Sun During the 1980's
Holidays in the sun during the 1980's is a memoir for me, taking me and the reader back to simpler times, basically a time of childhood were you didn't have a care in the world . The long school summer holidays, the hot days at the beach. Plenty of fun in the sun and great times to be had. A sometimes fictional account, although a lot of truth mixed in, many memories of good times, trying to piece it all together to give the reader a mental visual experience and try to see it through my eyes. I have always loved the sea, there's something magical, spiritual, a wonderful force of nature that can be relaxing and can be absolutely devastating. From the different colours of water around our shores of Great Britain, the lovely colours in the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean in all it's splendour. The sea is great. Lost memories of a young child being brought back to life in this book of fantastic times, becoming of a teenager and all the joys that brings and then turning into a young adult and that first holiday abroad without the parents, less said here I think . Getting married and honeymooning abroad, taking the kids abroad for the first time, special anniversary holidays abroad without the kids, happy memories. I hope the reader will experience the same pleasure as me, those wonderful times, oh and of course how can you not forget about the ice creams and the good old favourite, fish and chips. Buckets and spades, those little flags on the wooden sticks, the rubbish jokes on the lolly sticks, sand between the toes and when you got home, mum would say " looks like we've brought half the beach back with us ". The seaside adventures would carry on into the evening if you were lucky. If at the place you were staying at had a pier then it was an extra bonus. The rides, dodgems, carousal, the waltzer, the twister, the big wheel and sometimes a helter-skelter. The penny machines, candy floss and hot dogs, prize bingo and arcade machines. A walk along the pier, watch the fishermen fish, day turns to night and the pretty fairy lights light up the sky. Hear the wave's crash underneath and feel the spray come up through the boardwalk, the smells of the seaside, brings it all back. Hope you enjoy reading my book, hope you feel the love of the sea and return to a place of childhood dreams that came true in the summer times of the 1980's.
