So, what does a legendary mercenary do when he retires? "He finds him an out of the way place... where they grow good barley and hops. Sets his-self up brewing ale, and mayhap finds a soft, curvy lass or two to keep his bones warm at night...." But when Fergus walked into the Upper Arden Valley he found far more than he had bargained for.

Returning from the Northern Wastes, Fergus was dismayed to find that the Bards were indeed "singing his name", as he made a joyous reunion with his comrades of the TKT. His time on the plains of Valdenheim was short lived however, and given his first command, he was sent on a treacherous journey, south through the infamous Illesian swamps to the exotic Southern lands. There, amid the burning sands, an ancient horror awaited them... one that not only thirsted for their lives, but for their very souls.

The legend continues... Once again, Fergus' plans to live out a peaceful retirement are shattered... by a warning of an immanent invasion from across the sea. Preparing for the threat, he must somehow convince all the nations to come together, and face the unknown invaders as one. Relying on his experience with prior invasions, and aided behind the scenes by the mysterious men in brown smocks, he can only hope the preparations can be made in time.

The Legend of Fergus continues with Ashes of Wrath; a book of revelations, loss and reunions; of courage, determination, and love. The invaders from across the Eastern Sea have landed. Einbeck has been sacked, and Fergus grieves the loss of his family. But he has people depending on him to lead them to victory against the strange mutants. If he fails, an entire continent falls under the enemy's heavy hand. Fergus must risk everything in a last ditch effort to retain the freedom of the world, even if he believes his own has fallen apart.

Something calls me ever onward. I cannot resist that call, and I am unable to not follow it over the horizon. I can only hope that I will know what it is when I find it." Together with Robert, an officer of the garrison thrust into a position of leadership in an impossible situation, and Raine, the beautiful Countess trapped in an unhappy marriage, Eamonn finds himself facing a ruthless siege by a savage enemy. The fate of a kingdom is in their hands, and they must hold, or die trying. But amidst all the horror and death, Eamonn finds friendship, love, and perhaps the very thing that he seeks.
