The summer ended much too soon and hw had to go back home to his parents farm in Iowa. They had promised to write each other but being kids that was soon forgotten. They grew up and had forgotten about the feelings they had had at 13. His parents had moved to Illinois and he had came with them even though he was just weeks from leaving for the Army. they reconnected, she was everything he ever wanted. He asked her to marry him because he was going away to Basic Training in a few weeks and she agreed. But life sometimes gets in the way. Kids came and things got rough between them.

Our friend Jack from Sugar Mill Road comes starts a roofing company and on one of the houses he and his crew are hired to work on they discover a body. Jack comes back to his home town with his now wife Candice after being pardoned for murder is in Jack's neighborhood and he is determined to find the killer.
