Despite its name, the Book of the Dead wasn’t wasn’t a single ‘book’, but a collection of funerary scrolls created over 2,000 years. The concertina includes an accessible introduction to the history of these scrolls and a step-by-step guide to navigating the Duat. When unfolded, it reveals a large reproduction of the jigsaw illustration with a key to its eighteen vignettes. Each vignette is paired with a real spell from the Book of the Dead – just in case you need to charm a demon or two!

Can you survive the onslaught of monsters and misery, and be the last one standing? All you need to do is find, and hold onto, Hope. Pandora’s Box is a fast-paced strategy game where you’ll connive to be the last player left. Steal cards, eliminate your opponents and hold onto the Hope card to emerge victorious. To start the game, set aside the Hope card and shuffle the deck. Deal five cards face down to each player, then place the shuffled deck on top of the Hope card. The player who opened Pandora’s Box goes first! On your turn, draw a card from the deck. Then either play a card, completing its effect, or pass. But beware – your opponents will unleash all sorts of terrifying creatures against you, from the monstrous Minotaur to hundred-eyed or hundred-armed giants. The game ends when only one player remains or when the draw pile is empty. In the latter case, whoever holds the Hope card wins. Pandora’s Box includes a 56-page booklet that explains the rules and explores the myth of Pandora, her infamous box, and the characters featured in the game.
