Jorge da Silva led an interesting life. From his beginnings in Portugal, dealing with poverty and hardship, through his stint in the army, serving abroad, to his arrival in Canada and the good life promised by this new land-he's seen and done plenty of note. Recounting his many 'adventures' with humour and insight, Jorge represents the successful immigrant-building a home away from home and making it his own.
