Time isn't an easy concept for kids to grasp, but young readers will delight in learning all about it with the fun and lively lessons in TELLING TIME. Exploring what time is and discovering why we need to tell time, young readers certainly learn more than 'the big hand is on the one and the little hand is on the two'. With the help of a whole lot of clocks, a dash of humor, and a few familiar circumstances, learning to tell time is a lot of fun. It's about time. With Megan Halsey's fresh, fun, and playful illustrations, telling time is a breeze. Imaginative digital and analog clocks adorn page after page with cuckoos, in the shape of boats, with alarm bells, and more. You won't want to miss a second of Telling Time.
In 1922, when Joseph-Armand Bombardier was fifteen years old he built his first snow vehicle. He had always loved to tinker with motors and make things go, and he dreamed of building a vehicle that could go over snow. His first attempt, using a Model T Ford engine and a wooden propeller, worked well. To Joseph-Armand's mind, anyhow. Not so much his father, who made him take the contraption apart. Over the years, Joseph-Armand dreamed of becoming a great mechanic and inventing machines. But when his young son died of a fever because it was impossible to get to the hospital over the snow-covered roads, Joseph-Armand applied his single-minded determination to building a vehicle that could go over snow. It took years, but he accomplished his goal. His invention changed the way people in snow country lived. Inaccessible roads could now be travelled, taking patients to hospitals, doctors and priests to the needy, children to school, and even mail to residents.
"I'd be careful of that one if I were you." These are the first words Ed hears when he finds himself in a different ... a different what? Place? Planet? Dream? The future? Eventually, Mr. Earle, explains, "Ed, you're inhabiting two dimensions. One at a time, but you're able to cross between them. Not many can do that, but you can. That's why you're Special. Understand?" Ed doesn't understand, not yet. He's kinda' busy dodging Pineapplers, EvilBalls, Triflamers and other deadly critters in this new dimension. Eventually, he gets that the reason he's here is to save not just his family, not just his town, but Planet Earth from an evil presence. Can Ed and his allies, the identical twins AmberII and WillowII survive to destroy the White Force?

The voice pounded a question into Special Ed's sleeping head: "What is the world's deadliest snake?" Meanwhile, in far-away Singapore, three of the city's beloved otters had been devoured by a gigantic, three-headed serpent. Two of them were bitten by poisonous fangs, and the third was squeezed by powerful coils ... before disappearing into the serpent's mouth. Special Ed no longer felt sleepy. He muttered, "I may be special. But I know I'm specially scared of snakes. I don't like 'em. Like 'em or not, Special Ed was about to learn that the world's deadliest snake isn't a cobra or a python - it's Hydra-Serpent He and his special pals, AmberII and WillowII, were about to take on their most dangerous mission yet - kill the Hydra-Serpent before it kills and eats every animal on Earth. And, as AmberII and WillowII reminded Ed, "Humans are animals." Hydra-Serpent didn't stop at Singapore. It ate critters and people from Singapore to San Francisco, Maine to Maryland, Newfoundland to New Zealand. Where would it strike next? No one had a clue. Will the three Specials save the animals (including the human animals) from this deadly creature? There's only one way to find out - Read on
