Written in a simple, easy-to-understand language by a skilled programmer with many years of experience teaching CNC machining to industry and in the classroom, this new edition offers a new chapter on feature-based Machining using Siemens, plus a new chapter featuring Fanuc NC guide I programming. It provides full descriptions of many operation and programming functions and illustrates their practical applications through examples. It provides in-depth information on how to program turning and milling machines, which is applicable to almost all control systems. It keeps all theoretical explanations to a minimum throughout so that they do not distort an understanding of the programming. And because of the wide range of information available about the selection of tools, cutting speeds, and the technology of machining, it is sure to benefit engineers, programmers, supervisors, and machine operators who need ready access to information that will solve CNC operation and programming problems. Ken Evans has held a variety of machining and related jobs throughout his career; and is currently a CNC Programmer at a prominent aerospace company. Ken was a Machine Tool Technology instructor for 20 years at Davis Applied Technology College in Kaysville, Utah, where he taught a variety of courses throughout the machining curriculum, including Mastercam CAD/CAM. In addition, he has trained other educators from around the region on how to set-up, program, and operate their CNC machines; and has been a Training & Applications Specialist for a local machine tool distributor. Written by an author with many years of experience teaching CNC machining, this workbook is the perfect complement to Programming of CNC Machines, 4thedition. It is filled with many practical exercises and is one of the few workbooks available that tests users through the application of programming functions commonly used in CNC programming. Together with its companion text, this workbook can be used as a complete CNC training program; or, it can be used on its own by students or professionals to verify that they have the basic skills needed to write a CNC program.Ken Evans has held a variety of machining and related jobs throughout his career; and is currently a CNC Programmer at a prominent aerospace company. CNC Machining Certification Exam Guide: Operation, Setup, and Programming
CNC Machining Certification Exam Guide is focused on providing the knowledge base required for obtaining certification, credentialing and/or job preparation in CNC Machining with CNC Mills and Lathes. It covers foundational skills that all those seeking employment as a CNC Operator/Machinist must possess. Managers responsible for workforce development in manufacturing facilities will use the book as a guide for on-the-job employee training and apprenticeships. The work can be used as a curriculum component for technical schools and colleges for students preparing for certification and credentialing exams based on the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Machining Level I standards for: CNC Mill Programming and Setup and Operations, and CNC Lathe Programming and Setup and Operations. At a time when the CNC market is experiencing a shortfall of skilled, qualified workers, this Exam Guide is the perfect resource. FEATURES - Presents CNC Programming with G-Code so users can execute their programs with confidence. Focuses on the creation of CNC programs using Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM). Written with the end goals of certification, credentialing and job readiness in mind. Practice study questions mimic those presented on credentialing exams and practice exercises prepare readers for the required practical activities.
Mothering Sunday & Contextualising Imaginaries of a Sociological Lifeworld
I share this account of an apparently simple family event; the sharing of a breakfast meal, celebrating Mothering Sunday; as a way of thinking about how shared experiences, especially of shared meals, which are always more meaningful than they first seem. That Sunday morning, even whilst enjoying the friendly atmosphere and the delicious food, I somehow knew that there was a story to tell; this is but one version. Although my thinking is sociological and methodological, I have tried to tell it as a story, through which I might be able to capture something of the essence of the extraordinary in the ordinariness of a simple shared meal
Enchantment's Odds & Ends

Enchantment's Odds & Ends

To be Enchanted, at one time, meant to be 'carried away, ' from one's hum-drum existence, to something or somewhere magical, perhaps even spiritual, at least, always more than merely physically pleasant Of course, this depended on one's beliefs in human souls. Take that away, and enchantment would be as mundane as everything else in modern daily life. No Soul means no possibility of Enchantment. Ken Evans.

'Becoming and Unbecoming Bond' is a life-long journey. Involving, learning from real-life experiences, challenging the world (as it is), especially the wise-guys; also taking risks, as well as staying alive. If you can't manage that, then you can't become Bond, or anything That doesn't mean, I have spent my life looking for trouble, there's enough of that without looking for more. But it does mean, that if it comes looking for you, you have to do a 'Hamlet', "To take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them."

These Notes are a record, of my day-to-day spontaneous thoughts, about some personal experiences of urban-life in Reading Berkshire. Intentionally sociologically and phenomenologically informed, recorded as it were, on the hoof, hence, this is a mixture of raw verbatim responses of a small sample of the town's people, of their experiences of the hustle and bustle of this multi-ethnic population of a particular urban town, with questions on community and integration, with future hopes and expectations, on its way to citydom', and my sociological reflections on the social, political and economic environment.

'Last Lesson of the Day' is a novel set in a Minor Public School in England, covering the last School Term of a Classics Teacher's employment at the school. At the centre of the story is an event of an ex-pupil, an Asian boy accused of 'Terrorist Activities' that the Classics teacher is called upon to support and defend. Unfortunately, the teacher 'lives in another time, that of the 'classical world', and finds himself overwhelmed by the accusations hurled at his ex-pupil. The last lesson of the day is his last school day, but not his last opportunity to offer the last lesson.
Freud in Rome

Freud in Rome

Freud saw each of his visits to Rome as a means of experimenting, in his private life with his several selves and his personal relationships, his sexual proclivities, his private obsessions and his literary interests to such a point, that he eventually came to see himself as a Roman and Rome as Freudian One consequence of this, is that anecdotes of his visits to Rome have, in a sense, adhered to the eternal city itself, requiring a personal visit following what trails might remain of Freud's adventures there. To go there is to move closer to Henri Bergson's theme of the union of body and soul, that within matter that pure perception places us, and it is really into spirit that we penetrate by means of memory, which for Bergson is the interpenetration of past and present. Or should I say, an intuitive kind of feeling I get when I actually put myself in the same situation, in the same place. Interpreted by Ken Evans, a London based Sociologist-Philosopher
