Built initially to be a low-cost, multi-role, tactical, littoral ship for the Navy, the Perra de Mar was a warship that could defend itself and defeat many larger vessels. Having built the ship as a demonstrator, SeaTact was hoping to get the contract to produce more. The marine engineer that designed it, Hermia Contreras, was a retired Navy Commander with years of experience at sea. Unfortunately, her design did not win the competition, and the Perra de Mar was ordered to be stripped and then turned over to a ship-breaker for demolition. Hermia had other plans for the vessel. She clandestinely sails the ship out of the Navy's harbor with a hand-picked crew and starts her mission to rescue her brother. He had been captured and confined to a North Korean prison after being caught in an attempt to save a news reporter. The circumstances surrounding the commandeering of the ship, and her other missions, makes her enterprise a dangerous one. Her brother's rescue begins a cruise around the world punctuated by dangerous encounters with the Russian pirates and the Chinese Navy. When her pursuers discovered that the ship was registered under the Andorran flag, as the Buque de Investigaci n Perra de Mar (Research Vessel Sea Bitch). 'Sink the Sea Bitch' became the passionate declaration of her pursuers.
