L. proverbium; pro and verbum, a word.] A short sentence often repeated, expressing a well-known truth or common fact, ascertained by experience or observation; a maxim of wisdom. In Scripture, it sometimes signifies a moral sentence or maxim that is enigmatical; a dark saying of the wise that requires interpretation. In these pages I hope to give you an alliterated helpful understanding of the text, verse by verse. As we know, there is "nothing new under the sun." This study guide is true to the text and that is really what each of us needs.
