Megan Stanford and friends are busily arranging the next fundraiser for the Pure Horizons Environmental Group in Misty Point, NJ. While organizing the gala event, Megan meets with Fiona Cochran, the event planner at the Misty Point Country Club.In another part of town, a private financial group threatens to build commercial real estate in the salt marshes of Misty Point, NJ. Megan Stanford and the Pure Horizons Environmental Group are determined to fight back and protect the town.Both groups unwittingly meet when they are invited to the country club for a gourmet food tasting. The food is delicious, but the final course is murder. After the medical examiner is unable to make a proper death determination, things become more sordid as secrets begin to unravel - secrets which prove that revenge is a dish best served cold.

When renovations in the library of Misty Manor lead to the discovery of a hundred-year-old treasure map, chaos erupts in the town of Misty Point, NJ. To confirm the map is real, Megan seeks the help of a professional surfer who specializes in shipwrecks. But before the treasure hunt starts, a dead body is found under the boardwalk with a bloody photo of Misty Manor nearby.In the midst of greed, confusion and terror, Megan and Nick must find the treasure and a killer before it's too late.

Tragedy befalls the town of Misty Point when local veterinarian, Dr. Arnie Stokes, is shot at the Hand in Paws Animal Clinic. The investigation leads the Misty Point Police Department directly to Megan Stanford who has now inherited ownership of the grant that has continued to keep the clinic running. When thefts of drugs and medical supplies are uncovered, the attacks appear to be coordinated with other animal shelters in the area. As Christmas approaches, Megan, Nick and her friends look to keep the spirit of the holiday alive by restarting the town traditions and hosting a fundraiser for the misplaced animals, two of which Megan reluctantly agrees to foster. With the investigation and festivities consuming Megan's time, she is introduced to the mysterious, handsome Jonathan Brandon Carter who will serve as the future attorney for her estate. The fate of the shelter and employees are at risk unless Megan and her friends can catch a ruthless criminal before he strikes again.
