1f, 2m / Dramatic Comedy / Interior Cabo San Lucas is a romantic comedy about two misfits and a postal employee who turn an apartment upside down while searching for love, courage and something to sell on Ebay. Two men break into a house and start grabbing everything they can. Little do they know that they're not alone. It seems that the owner, a young woman whose fiance just left her, has taking a fistful of sleeping pills with some booze and is trying to sleep away her troubles for good under a blanket on the couch. When she's discovered, she's so discombobulated that it takes her a while to figure out that she's being robbed. When she does discover it, she doesn't really care (she was just killing herself anyway). It turns out that while the one crook is a hardened criminal, the other is just a nice guy who happened to have a gun and who has been manipulated by the other one. The nice guy is horrified when he finds out that she's trying to kill herself. The bad guy takes off with the loot, but the good one stays behind and calls 911. In the midst of Grace's attempted suicide being thwarted by two house burglars, there are many comedic opportunities. And although funny, Cabo San Lucas has substance and truth that will make anyone feel for our human condition and frailty. "Those tired of playing second fiddle to the showier male roles might take a page from the author of this one act...who wrote a meaty starring role for herself...a great role for women, by a woman." - Jenelle Riley, Back Stage West "Cabo San Lucas also features its writer, Lisa Soland, in a lead role and Soland knows her comic strengths and plays to them. Her Grace, abandoned by her fiance as they were about to leave for a Cabo San Lucas honeymoon (and currently being burgled by two incompetents as she attempts to bid the world good-bye with an overdose of sleeping pills), is hilarious. Her progression as the pills begin to take effect is a small tour de force of physical comedy. Jeff Charlton, as nasty burglar Jack, displays both nice timing and effective menace, and Bill Lewis, as the hapless Guy, is appealing as the boy who burgles girl, boy saves girl, boy may get girl in the end. Director Linda L. Rand paces the play well and uses her actors' abilities effectively. The show's production values are simple but perfectly appropriate for this easy-to-like afternoon." - Janis Hashe, NoHo La News Magazine

Truth Be Told is a full-length play that consists of eleven, one-person stories shared by a variety of personalities, all focused on getting at the truth. "Lisa Soland's characters are quirky, heartbreaking and enchanting. In these short, expertly-tuned monologues, we understand the entire life of the characters by focusing in on events that define their lives. The characters stay with us because there are pieces of them in us all." -Lloyd Noonan, Dramatic Writing Editor, Quay Journal. "An extraordinary, well-balanced and perfect evening of theatre - so clever, so witty, so insightful and so moving." -Kieron Barry, Metro Pulse. "Having incarnated a few of Ms. Soland's characters, I am always struck by her profoundly unique voice that somehow finds a way to touch us all. Disarmingly, her characters in Truth Be Told engage the audience like candy to a child, until she invites us to grow up by exposing old wounds and adding salt where we need to heal." -John D'Aquino, Actor/Writer.

Sergeant York: The Play depicts the life and times of WWI hero and Tennessee resident, Alvin C. York. The audience plays the role of the folks who have gathered on the front porch steps of the York family home, wanting to listening, first-hand, to the WWI hero tell his stories of growing up in Pall Mall, becoming a Christian, his role in the battle of the Argonne Forest, the making of the film Sergeant York and the creation of the Alvin C. York Institute. The audience waits with anticipation for one of Gracie's home-cooked meals while being entertained by one of the most decorated soldiers of WWI. What they're saying about SERGEANT YORK: THE PLAY..."Playwright Lisa Soland has really captured the heart and soul of what my great grandfather, Alvin York, was all about. She's done extensive research, not only on Sgt. York, but interviews with the family, spending a lot of time in Pall Mall, getting to know the culture and the family and the story about the man behind the medals. This play captures Sgt. York's loyalty to God and country, and his service to the community. It's simply a wonderful play."-- Deborah York, Executive Director of the Sergeant York Patriotic Foundation and great granddaughter of Alvin York "Lisa Soland's wonderful new play tells the story of WWI war hero Alvin York. The play is full of folksy humor and wisdom as Sgt. York recounts his life from his boyhood on a poor Tennessee farm to his hard-drinking days and eventually the rediscovery of his faith. Sergeant York: The Playis always entertaining, but is also a powerful statement on the nature of war and the power of faith." -- Peter Colley, Playwright/Screenwriter/Librettist "Sergeant York: The Playis incredibly historically accurate, and true to the essence of Sgt. York's story. Seeing this play is a great opportunity to learn more about a true American hero." --Joshua Waggener, Sgt. Alvin C. York State Park Manager "This one-man performance uniquely shares the faith story of an incredible, national hero, Alvin York. Lisa Soland has devoted her significant abilities to share the story of Alvin York's deep personal faith and commitment to Jesus Christ. The actor, Greg Helton, provides a simply amazing work of bringing to life the wisdom, humor and testimony of Alvin York."-- Sam Polson, Lead Pastor of West Park Baptist Church "Fantastic play Lisa Soland was able to capture the humor, spirit and devotion to God of my Grandfather. She spent many hours with our family that knew him, especially the surviving children. Thank you 'Team York' for this great play and for honoring him and keeping his story alive. A job well done "-- Colonel Gerald York, grandson of Alvin York "Sergeant York: The Playis real good. A lot of that stuff the character of Alvin said in the play, I heard Daddy say all the time."-- Andrew Jackson York, son of Alvin York

Perhaps you've heard an inspirational story of Jesus revealing himself to people in dreams, in far-away places where no word of Christ is allowed. In The Boy & The Bagel Necklace, four-year-old Andrew, a resident of a Romanian orphanage, tells us the story of when he was paid such a visit. Jesus tells Andrew not to worry, that everything is going to be all right. Soon after, the leadership in Romania changes and little Andrew is adopted and brought to America where he learns that Jesus Christ is more than just a nice man who visits desperate children who have lost all hope. When little Andrew learns just how much God loves him, his life is radically changed. He returns to Romania, with his father, to share the love of Christ with other children just like him.Perhaps you've heard an inspirational story of Jesus revealing himself to people in dreams, in far-away places where no word of Christ is allowed. I vividly remember learning about the importance of the rainbow as a child in Vacation Bible School. Each time it rained, I would run outside in search of the sun so I could witness, once more, God's miracle displayed in the sky. The story of the rainbow is not just an ancient story restricted to the pages of God's Word. The presence of the rainbow is an ongoing, living example of God's faithfulness and grace toward His people whom He loves. This is the very reason we need tell this story, over and over again, especially to our children. All the promises of God are real. And while the events told in this book occurred over 4,000 years ago, the promises of God to His people stand firm today.
