April 9-Lyndon LaRouche today warned that there is a British-run coup d' tat in process against the Trump Administration in the United States, which threatens to parlay the stupid and dangerous April 6 air strike against Syria, into a full-fledged thermonuclear confrontation with Russia and China. It's the British bastards who duped President Trump into attacking Syria, with their lies and false intelligence, LaRouche charged. We have to destroy the British system and all their interests in the United States, he stated. We have to rally the United States to get back on the trajectory that Trump had begun to chart for the country, of cooperation with Russia and China around American System economic policies, including a return to FDR's 1933 Glass-Steagall principle. Trump and Putin should immediately hold a summit meeting to address the crisis, LaRouche said, and thereby short-circuit the whole British operation. LaRouche strongly endorsed the comments this weekend by veteran German statesman Willy Wimmer, former Secretary of State of the German Defense Ministry, who warned that "people are afraid of a global war, a Third World War," and argued that "the current dramatic situation offers an opportunity for the Russian and U.S. heads of state to meet as soon as possible." There can be no doubt that the British are behind last week's shocking about-face of Trump's policy. Top British officials are crowing openly over their achievement to date. For example, British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon published an op-ed in the April 9 Sunday Times of London, bragging that "the British and American governments have been in close contact at all levels before and after the strikes. . . . U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis called me to share their assessment of the regime's culpability. Together we reviewed the options they were considering." On April 8, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson had also claimed that he was coordinating everything with his American counterpart, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, including Johnson's theatrical cancellation of his scheduled trip to Moscow. "I discussed these plans in detail with Secretary Tillerson," Johnson boasted. "He will visit Moscow as planned and, following the G7 meeting in Lucca, Italy on April 10-April 11], will be able to deliver that clear and coordinated message to the Russians." Today's Sunday Times elaborated, in an article accompanying the Fallon op-ed, as to what that message would be: "Britain and America will this week directly accuse Russia of complicity in war crimes in Syria and demand that Vladimir Putin pull the rug from Bashar al-Assad's blood-soaked regime." Fallon further wrote: "By proxy, Russia is responsible for every civilian death last week," adding that Putin must now get with the program, by agreeing to the overthrow of the Assad government. The chances of Putin going along with this British demand, are zero. The chances of the situation spiraling into a thermonuclear confrontation-either in the Middle East or around the Korean Peninsula-are significantly greater than zero, so long as the British are calling the shots. Having induced Trump to attack Syria based upon their lies, the British are now also orchestrating a storm of opposition to President Trump in the Obama wing of the Democratic Party, calling for Trump's impeachment because of the Syria caper. Trump's actions this week have also weakened him politically among his own base of supporters, both in the United States and internationally, who are shocked and dismayed at what he did-which adds grist to the British mill.
This is the edited transcript of the May 31, 2018 Schiller Institute New Paradigm webcast, an interview with the founder of the Schiller Institutes, Helga Zepp-LaRouche. She was interviewed by Harley Schlanger. A video of the webcast is available. Note: Italy's President Mattarella reversed course and accepted a reshuffled Lega-Five Star government including Paolo Savona, immediately after this interview was concluded. Harley Schlanger: Hello. Welcome to the Schiller Institute weekly international webcast, featuring the founder of the Schiller Institutes, Helga Zepp-LaRouche. We're in a very fast-moving strategic situation, a lot of important developments going on, probably the most significant being the coup carried out this week in Italy on behalf of the European Central Bank (ECB), the European Union and the City of London. I think the broader implications of the situation in Italy are very poorly understood in the United States. Helga, why don't we start with that? Helga Zepp-LaRouche: Yes. It is a dramatic situation. The President of Italy, Sergio Matarella, has refused a government proposed by a majorityelected coalition of the Lega party and the Five Star Movement party because these two parties had selected Paolo Savona for Minister of Economy and Finances. Savona is an establishment figure. He began his career in the research service of the Bank of Italy, Italy's central bank. Among many other positions, he has been President of Confindustria, the industrialists' association of Italy, and he was Minister of Industry, Commerce and Craftsmanship in a previous government. He was pro-euro in the beginning, but after he saw the terrible consequences for the Italian economy and society of the EU policies, and especially of the Eurozone membership for Italy, he turned into a euro-critical person, a so-called "euroskeptic." He says that just as it was done to Italy by the Versailles Treaty of 1919, the euro is now dictating terms to Italy; it is a complete debt prison for all the nations affected by it. Savona has said that therefore Italy needs a Plan B, but he made totally clear-before the possibility of becoming a minister came up-that he did not intend for Italy to leave the euro, but that, together with the other affected south European nations, he just wanted Italy to negotiate better conditions: to stop the austerity, to have investment in the real economy, and to renegotiate the Maastricht Treaty, the Stability Pact. But that was obviously too much for Brussels. It exerted pressure on Italian President Mattarella to reject Savona and his plans, especially via ECB President Mario Draghi, who was mentioned in the Italian media. This is incredible: Here you have a government elected by a majority of the people. When Mattarella announced he could not agree to this new government, he said that it was because the presence of Savona would worry foreign investors. This has caused a complete scandal and also a complete backlash, because such a blatant, - democracy has been shown not to exist in the Eurozone
This day will be remembered in history, not only for the extraordinary achievement in Korea brought about by Donald Trump, Kim Jong-un, Moon Jae-in, Xi Jinping, Shinzo Abe, and Vladimir Putin, but because the "Spirit of the New Silk Road" has taken another giant step forward in bringing peace and development to the entire world. The Joint Statement signed and released by Chairman Kim and President Trump is reproduced on page 3. It states clearly that the new relationship between the United States and the DPRK "will contribute to peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula and of the world." In a press conference following the Summit, President Trump spoke profoundly about the transformation taking place in the world as a whole. He began: "I stand before you as a representative of the Unites States to deliver a message of hope and vision, and a message of peace." He said that the successful Summit proved that "real change is indeed possible;" that "the past does not have to define the future;" that "anyone can make war, but only the most courageous can make peace." He concluded, correctly, that "It's a very great moment in the history of the world." It is being noted around the world that this historic event in Singapore, and the similarly transformational meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) which took place over the weekend in Qingdao, stand in stark contrast to the chaos at the G-7 meeting in Quebec, where Trump declared that Putin should be at the table if anything of use were to be accomplished. Trump received full backing from the newly elected Prime Minister of Italy Giuseppe Conte, while Shinzo Abe has also refused to join in the Russia-bashing, and is working closely with President Putin on joint development projects. What is left of the G-7-France, Germany, Canada and the U.K.-may end up being the G-4, if they fail to break from the British Empire's desperate effort to sustain the division of the world into East and West. History is being made in Asia, not in the decrepit economies and cultural decay of the West. Trump's appreciation of China and Russia reflects his recognition that, working together, great changes can be made for the betterment of mankind as a whole, and that the United States itself can only be restored to its former greatness by being part of the Spirit of the New Silk Road, as Helga Zepp-LaRouche has described it. This Spirit is contagious, inspiring cultural optimism, and stands in stark contrast to the cultural pessimism which has increasingly infected Europe and the United States over the past fifty years. Mrs. LaRouche, after watching Trump's Singapore press conference, noted that Trump had refused to be provoked by the hysterical, war-mongering western media, but rather showed total confidence that the new paradigm for peace through development were both possible and necessary. This is what Lyndon LaRouche and this movement have been fighting for over these past fifty years. It is a time of historical transformation, a phase-change in the topology of human development, in which the actions of a single individual can change the world. There should be no sitting on the fence. People should be told, boldly, to join with the LaRouche movement, to bring the Spirit of the New Silk Road to all of Mankind.
Oct. 26-The big question which should concern all thinking human beings on this planet, is essentially the same as that which was hotly debated in the young American republic as reported in the Federalist Papers, "Is human society capable of an efficient form of selfgovernment?" Only this time it is not a question for just one nation; it concerns all of humanity and the need for a new paradigm in the world order. Tensions in a world plagued by multiple crises seem to be increasing towards a breaking point: the danger of a new-this time systemic-financial crash of the transatlantic financial system, an unprecedented polarization inside the United States around the ongoing coup attempt against the President of the United States, false-flag operations, Goebbelslike deception operations against entire populations, drug epidemics which are a new form of Opium Wars, the global migration crisis, terrorism and Nazism, an increase of centrifugal forces in the European Union, the re-emergence of aggressive, geopolitically motivated efforts to defend an order that no longer exists-just to list some of the challenges. The world is in disorder. In light of such a complex and seemingly completely disunited world, how realistic then is the perspective laid out at the 19th National Congress of the CPC by Chinese President Xi Jinping, where he defined the goal for China to become a "strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful," fully modernized country by the year 2050, and even spoke at some point of the building of a "beautiful world" for all nations to participate in? If one looks at the crises and challenges listed above as unrelated individual problems, one ends up in a "bad infinity," where the solution to many of them seems impossible. But if one recognizes that all of these problems have common threads, in that they are the derivatives of the old paradigm of an epoch going under, one can find the solution by being informed by the principles of the new epoch. There are two "game-changing" topics, which in the near future, create totally opposite pathways for mankind. The first one concerns the monumental battle being fought out now in the United States. The coup attempt against President Trump may be successful and he is driven out of office one way or the other. Or, if the collusion of the heads of intelligence agencies of the Obama administration with the British intelligence services (GCHQ and MI6) in orchestrating "Russiagate" against Trump-to prevent him from realizing his intention to put the relationship between the United States and Russia on a good basis-will lead to the criminal prosecution of the perpetrators. Were the Democrats to win the House of Representatives in the midterm elections, they will try to bury the ongoing investigations in the Congress, and the confrontationist policies we have seen in the sanctions against Russia, the trade war against China, and the recent speech by Vice President Pence, will be escalated instantly. If Trump can consolidate his position, despite the many hawkish tones coming from the United States now, there does exist the potential that he will be able, in the second half of his first term, to improve relations with Russia and return to his initial positive attitude towards China. The second, related game-changing issue is whether we fall into the "Thucydides Trap" or escape it. Let us look at a perspective to overcome the Thucydides Trap, the apparent conflict between the power dominating the world up to now, the United States, and the rising power, China, by defining a solution which goes way beyond the bilateral situation of the two, and which addresses the existential dangers for all nations, thus shifting the level of discussion and thinking to a higher plateau.
Feb. 18-In a discussion today, Lyndon LaRouche highlighted the significance of the call being widely raised to dump the entire (mis-) leadership of the FBI after the latest in its series of bloody fiascos. It wouldn't have taken much of an "investigation." Alarmed citizens had given the FBI not one, but two completely specific, credible tips that Nikolas Cruz would massacre high school students exactly as he did on Feb. 14. And if the FBI had bothered to mount any investigation at all in response, it would also have found, long before the killings, a third, additional warning that some journalists found within two days afterwards: that Cruz belonged to an "Instagram" chat group where he made similar threats. He showed off his "arsenal" of seven guns, and wrote, "I think I am going to kill people." President Trump tweeted yesterday, "Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable. They are spending too much time trying to prove Russia collusion with the Trump campaign. There is no collusion. Get back to basics and make us all proud." Florida GOP Gov. Rick Scott also called the FBI's response to the second tip "unacceptable," and called for Director Wray's resignation. "We constantly promote 'see something, say something, ' and a courageous person did just that to the FBI. And the FBI failed to act. 'See something, say something' is an incredibly important tool, and people must have confidence in the follow- through from law enforcement. The FBI Director needs to resign." Not just the Director. Judge Jeanine Pirro, the Fox News commentator who is a former prosecutor and judge, argues rightly and with passion that the entire top echelon of the FBI must be removed. Any fiasco of this magnitude in any corporation would force the resignation or removal of all the top officers and the board of directors. The utter failure shown here by the FBI is so monumental that this rule must apply here. The FBI could not be bothered to investigate before the massacre, but afterwards, it had the chutzpah to go before television cameras to lie that the Facebook post reported in September, which had Nikolas Cruz' name on it, was insufficient to establish a "positive identification." Not only did they have the name, but in fact, Facebook collects additional data to facilitate such identification. But is this the first such total failure? What about 9/11? And then, we know that Russia had given the FBI warnings about the Boston bombers. Judge Pirro says she knows that serial abuser Larry Nassar had been on the FBI's radar screen for years. Fiasco after fiasco. She says that there are honest men and women in the FBI, but they are sidelined and denied promotion by top management. The entire top echelon must go. Her tenminute statement yesterday is worth watching
From the Editors Kesha Rogers, shown on our cover campaigning for the runoff election in the Texas Democratic primary race for Senate, is fast emerging as a national spokeswoman for emergency action to reverse the drought that is devastating the western United States. In our Political Economy section, we publish presentations from her joint webcast with LaRouche Democrat Michael Steger of San Francisco, who is running in the Democratic primary against Nancy Pelosi. As the two candidates elaborate, Texas and California are not only the largest American states by population, but also the largest agricultural producers-and both have been slammed by the worst drought on record. See National for an update on Rogers' campaign. Joining in the webcast was Ben Deniston of the LaRouche Science Team, who documented that the drought is by no means the result of man-made global warming, but rather of solar cycles that likely signify future global cooling-and worsening drought. Rogers, Steger, and Deniston lay out the policy solutions required. In Economics, we feature a fact sheet on "fracking"-which many people believe is a boon because it gives us cheap gas and oil, but which in fact is wrecking the water supply and agriculture. Internationally, as Jeff Steinberg reports, the Geneva accord among the U.S., Russia, Ukraine's puppet government, and the EU has already broken down, and the danger of war that could spiral out of control remains great. See the statement by 27 Ukrainian political leaders on the threat of civil war. But opposition to the U.S.-EU policy is growing, with even the head of Britain's MI6 declaring that "it's not worth starting World War III over Ukraine." From Helga Zepp-LaRouche's recent trip to China, we include an interview with her by the Chinese CCTV program "Dialogue," on the potential represented by President Xi Jinping's "New Silk Road." Lyndon LaRouche contributes two features to this issue, a short discussion of the American System of political economy, originated by Alexander Hamilton; and an in-depth study of "The Incompetence of Twentieth-Century Science Education," The latter is a revised and expanded version of an article we ran in our April 4 issue.
From the Editors As the increasingly irrelevant President Obama hobbled back from his Asian trek, to Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and the Philippines- all targets of the Obama-British imperial "Asia-pivot" scheme-he was barely able to muster his signature smile, as, one by one, each of his objectives met stiff resistance from his hosts. The snubbing of China-the region's economic and military superpower-did not go unremarked. As EIR's Mike Billington reports, Obama's blundering into the heated dispute between Japan and China over islands in the East China Sea, provoked a pointed response in a New York Times op-ed, from a Chinese scholar, who charged that Obama's U.S. has been a "destabilizing force" in the region. But things aren't any better for Obama on his home turf, as Lyndon LaRouche pointed out in his webcast April 25 (Feature); the President's bellicose stance against Russia, is provoking a backlash among the top U.S. military circles. "Obviously, the relevant military institutions of the United States are not going to condone the President's going to general warfare. That is not going to happen," LaRouche stated. In her analysis of the crisis in Ukraine, and resistance in Europe- Germany, in particlar-to the insane U.S./EU/NATO provocations against Russia, Helga Zepp-LaRouche reveals what is driving the world to the brink of World War III (International): "It is this impending collapse of the trans-Atlantic financial system, dominated by London and Wall Street, that is the real reason for the acute danger of war." In "Russia Debates Dirigist Credit-Creation Plan," EIR Russia Editor Rachel Douglas provides an evaluation of the intense discussion in Russia over economic policy, forced by both the punitive EU/U.S. sanctions, and by domestic economic problems. In response, Putin advisor Sergei Glazyev has put forward a proposal to protect the Russian economy. Looking at the U.S. economy, LaRouchePAC's Megan Beets presents a detailed view of what NAWAPA XXI will mean for the parched Western states, especially California and Texas; and Marcia Merry Baker examines the impact of the drought in those same "food bowl" states as shortages threaten to bring soaring food prices. In Texas, Kesha Rogers is posing a challenge to the "Bush Democrats" who have been bought off by her Wall Street-owned opponent in the contest for the Democratic Senate nomination, moneybags David Alameel (National).
