Tyler, the rabbit notices a red car in a toy store window, and asks his mother to buy it for him. His mother agrees to buy it on condition that he bahaves like a good rabbit until his birthday. Tyler obeyed all his mother's requests daily. When his birthday finally arrived, he was delighted to receive the red car. However, a younger guest at his birthday party was sad and crying because he had no toy with which to play. Tyler heroically offers the young guest his new red car.

Tyler at first looks forward to the arrival of his new baby sister. He then discovers that his mother's attention has been diverted from being focused on him, to being bestowed on his new baby sister. His initial disappointment is transformed into a desire to help his mother in caring for his sister Tia when he observes that the baby needs much more help than he does. He realizes that she is too young to be able to help herself. His greatest satisfaction comes from proving to himself that the more he helps his sister, the more his mother will give him her attention, appreciation, and praise. This delightful story, by "Mom's Choice Awards"-winning author and illustrator, Dr. M. C. Abushar, will inspire the child to welcome a new sibling's arrival into the family. It will help to dispel any feelings of animosity or jealousy, and create a genuine desire to help parents in caring for the new baby. Tyler practices all summer long for his role as David in the coming year's school play "David and Goliath". He practices aiming a foam pebble at a round target with his slingshot to be ready to aim the pebble accurately at the helmet of Goliath during the play. There is a new student in Tyler's class this year, and Tyler and this new student, Joel, become close friends. During recess break after the students go out to the yard to play, Joel attempts to aim a basketball the the net, but misses a few times. The students take the ball away from Joel, and tell him that they don't want him to play with them because he is not a good basketball player. They exclude him from joining their game while explaining that no one wants him on either team. Tyler feels with Joel's sadness at being disrespected, rejected, and bullied. When Tyler learns from Joel that he is very good at using a slingshot and has had practice in aiming accurately at a target with it, he offers him the role of acting David in his place. Tyler believed that when the students observed the successful aim of Joel, they would begin respecting him and stop bullying him. Tyler's plan succeeded. Joel earned the admiration of everyone watching the play in the school auditorium. Joel was elated. His self-confidence and joy were restored. Tyler felt content although he had lost the opportunity to act the role himself. His heart only felt a love that was uniting all the students present in the school auditorium.

This is the same story that was written in English with the title "Tyler's Promised Gift", and which won the Mom's Choice Award honoring excellence. Author/illustrator M. C. Abushar has rewritten it in this French edition titled "Cadeau Promis A Tyler." It also includes the identical illustrations found in the English-language edition. Tyler is still the same loved and admired rabbit-hero with whom children became acquainted in the "Tyler, the Rabbit series", and possesses the same character traits that led to his being appreciated by parents and educators because he models exemplary behavior. Tyler obeys all his mother's requests so that she would buy him his most desired toy for his birthday. On the day of his birthday Tyler discovers a young guest in tears because he was the only one at the party who had no toy of his own with which to play. Tyler acts quickly. He stops the younger rabbit from crying by offering him his new toy.
