Was ist eine Stadt? Was hat sie uns zu erz hlen? Was unterscheidet die zeitgen ssische, komplexe oder hochentwickelte Stadt von anderen St dten, die sich angeblich in der Entwicklung befinden? Mit anderen, fast identischen Worten: Was macht eine Metropole, wenn nicht gar eine Megalopolis, zu einem wahren Portr t eines ( ber-)urbanisierten Raums, in dem die urbane Macht in ihrer furchterregendsten Form zur Schau gestellt wird? Um dies zu entscheiden, muss man unbedingt die Bedeutung analysieren, die der Begriff "Urbanisierung" oder das, was man auch als "urbane Tatsache" bezeichnen kann, annehmen kann. Derzeit scheint es fast unfehlbar, dass das Konzept der Urbanisierung ein von verschiedenen Disziplinen unerforschtes Terrain ist, da es unaufhaltsam den existenziellen Rahmen unseres Lebens regiert und formt, mit seiner Funktionsweise verbunden ist und daher zu einem impliziten Faktor jeder m glichen st dtischen und menschlichen Transmutation wird.

What is a city? What does it have to tell us? What distinguishes the contemporary, complex or ultra-sophisticated city from other supposedly developing cities? In other, almost identical terms, what makes a metropolis, if not a megalopolis, the spectacle of urban power in its most formidable form, the true portrait of an (over)urbanized space? To decide this, it is essential to analyze the meaning of the term "urbanization" or what we can also call the "urban fact". Currently, it is in fact almost infallible, it seems, that the concept of the urbanization is not a ground unexplored in depth by different disciplines; so much it governs and shapes, inexorably, the existential framework of our life, is attached to its mode of functioning and, consequently, becomes an implicative factor of any possible urban and human transmutation.

Che cos' una citt ? Che cosa ha da dirci? Che cosa distingue la citt contemporanea, complessa o ultra-sofisticata da altre citt in presunto sviluppo? In altri termini, quasi identici, cosa rende una metropoli, se non una megalopoli, lo spettacolo del potere urbano nella sua forma pi formidabile, il vero ritratto di uno spazio (sovra)urbanizzato? Per deciderlo, essenziale analizzare il significato del termine "urbanizzazione" o quello che possiamo anche chiamare "fatto urbano". Attualmente, sembra quasi certo che il concetto di urbanizzazione non sia un campo che non sia stato approfondito da diverse discipline, poich governa e modella inesorabilmente il quadro esistenziale della nostra vita, legato al suo modo di funzionare e, di conseguenza, diventa un fattore implicito in ogni possibile trasmutazione urbana e umana.
