Involuntary mental hospitalization is a political act, based on the misguided need of the state to control its "undesirable" or "deviant" citizens. It has no place in a free society, as it is a violation of the fundamental rights to personal freedom and individual liberty. It is the purpose of this book to present arguments in favor of personal freedom and to rekindle a dialogue over an often too easily accepted set of practices.
