Charakterkunde ist ein prominentes Thema der altchinesischen Literatur. Die Frage, wie man den Charakter seiner Mitmenschen ergr nden kann und einzusch tzen hat, wird oft im Zusammenhang mit der Vergabe von mtern besprochen. Die Texte, die diese Thematik behandeln, spiegeln einen wichtigen Aspekt der Herausbildung eines b rokratischen Zentralstaates vor der Gr ndung des chinesischen Kaiserreiches im Jahre 221 v. Chr. wider: Die mtervergabe nach Kriterien der Familienzugeh rigkeit wurde durch meritokratische Grunds tze der Beamtenrekrutierung erg nzt und teilweise abgel st. Diese Arbeit untersucht die zwei umfangreichsten und systematischsten altchinesischen Texte zum Thema der Beamtenrekrutierung im Hinblick auf ihre Genese, ihr Verh ltnis zueinander und zu den zahlreichen Parallelen in anderen Texten unterschiedlicher Provenienz. Aus literarischen und au erliterarischen Indizien werden R ckschl sse gezogen auf das zugrundeliegende Textmaterial sowie auf die historischen Wurzeln der meritokratischen Traditionen.

The present study is a collection and systematic summary of several papers which were published over the last five years. The Islamic State is at the climax of its power. When a German journalist is captured and sentenced to death, the German government sends a so called Jumper, in order to negotiate a ransom. The experienced secret agent Paulsen and his young and motivated partner take on the journey to Mosul and witness things, the Islamic State is not keen on sharing with the world. The meeting with the caliph ahead, they wonder if they can trust the word of the Caliph. At the same time an attack occurs in Miami committed by an islamist terrorist. The court psychiatrist Adriana Borrero is entrusted with creating an opinion on the suspect. With time she encounters several inconsistencies in his story. She starts to investigate with a police friend of hers and soon discovers that the Islamic State is an invention of the CIA, sacrificing countless lives. But can she save the endangered people in time?

In diesem Lehrbuch werden die mathematischen Grundlagen, die während des Grundstudiums im Mittelpunkt stehen, behandelt. In die anschauliche und präzise Darstellung des Stoffes sind langjährige Lehrerfahrungen des Autors eingeflossen. Wichtige mathematische Begriffe, Definitionen und Aussagen werden anhand komplett durchgerechneter Beispiele erläutert. Bei den Lösungen dieser Beispiele kommen moderne grafikfähige Taschenrechner mit Computeralgebra-Systemen zum Einsatz. In der 2. Auflage wurden insbesondere die Abschnitte überarbeitet, in denen Taschenrechner mit einem Computeralgebra-System (CAS) eingesetzt werden.
