Business scandals are always with us from the South Sea Bubble to Enron and Parmalat. As accounting forms a central element of any business success or failure, the role of accounting is crucial in understanding business scandals. This book aims to explore the role of accounting, particularly creative accounting and fraud, in business scandals. The book is divided into three parts. In Part A the background and context of creative accounting and fraud is explored. Part B looks at a series of international accounting scandals and Part C draws some themes and implications from the country studies.

Accounting and Finance is intended as an essential textbook for students studying accounting and finance for the first time and aims to provide them with the necessary understanding of the theory and practice of financial accounting, management accounting and business finance. The text provides a self-contained, introductory, one-year course covering all the major aspects of accounting and finance which can be used by students on both accounting and non-accounting degrees, as well as those on MBA and MSC courses. It is designed to be useful for UK students and for those studying accounting in English overseas.

Financial Accounting provides a very accessible and easy-to-follow introduction to the subject. It is intended as a core textbook for students studying financial accounting for the first time: either those following an undergraduate degree in a business school, or non-business studies students studying a financial accounting course. This includes students on both accounting and non-accounting degrees and also MBA students. It provides a self-contained, introductory, one semester course covering the major aspects of financial accounting. The book is also designed so that students can progress to more advanced follow-up courses so is well suited as an introduction for mainstream accounting graduates or MBA students as a basic text. It should be particularly useful in reinforcing the fundamental theory and practice of introductory financial accounting.

Accounting 3e provides a very accessible and easy-to-follow introduction and is aimed at students studying accounting for the first time. The book introduces concepts in an engaging and easy-to-follow manner, and examples are tried and tested with many graded questions and answers. The third edition is updated to reflect IFRS terminologies and format including the reorganisation of the UK standards committee in July 2012. Double entry bookkeeping is included, however, this can be bypassed for students not requiring this.

Digging Lincoln is a uniquely personal account of how a record of the city’s rich archaeology was recorded from the time of the early antiquaries through to the commercially funded professional teams of today, by someone who was closely involved in a senior capacity for over half a century. The author recounts his background and initiation into archaeology, and the various arrangements under which an archaeological team for the city of Lincoln operated over the next few decades. It was both an exhilarating time and full of important discoveries, but also at times a struggle to survive in the face of other forces. Over that long period, appreciation of the importance of Lincoln’s archaeological story and its public presentation have grown remarkably, such that it has now become a major heritage destination.
