Det er særlig lagt vekt på å gi leseren en praktisk vinkling. Et eget kapittel er derfor viet forvaltningsrettslige spørsmål som særlig oppstår i saksbehandlingen av kulturminnevernsaker. Det er videre lagt vekt på å sette leseren bedre i stand til å løse rettslige spørsmål på egen hånd gjennom læren om juridisk metode. Boken er forsøkt lagt opp på en pedagogisk måte, uten å stille krav til juridiske forkunnskaper.
