The Octoechos or "Eight Tones" is am Eastern Orthodox (Byzantine) liturgical text, first arranged by St. John of Damascus at the Mar Saba monastery (Palestine) in the eighth century. This book contains a rotation of eight tones and Services with specific hymns that are chanted from the end of the Pentecostarion season to the beginning of Great Lent.

This Service book contains all ordinations and elevations, as well as the consecrations of church items and vestments in the Eastern, Byzantine tradition. This Service book, though published for the Nebraska Exarchate, can be used by any Eastern Orthodox or Byzantine Catholic bishop.

This hand liturgical edition is meant to enhance congregational participation during Great Lent, Holy Week and Pascha Services as traditionally celebrated in the Eastern Church. It contains all necessary rubrics and an easy-to-follow format.

Traditionally, Orthodox Nativity Services start with the Vesperal Liturgy of St. Basil in the afternoon of Christmas Eve (January 6), followed by Great Compline and Matins at some time after dark in the evening. Then, on Christmas morning follows the Divine Liturgy.This booklet features the Christmas Eve Service of Great Compline & Matins (Orthros), somewhat revised and abbreviated as to meet parochial custom and less repetitive demands.

The Liturgy of St. Chrysostom is often referred to as the Byzantine Liturgy. No one knows exactly how the original Byzantine Liturgy has been composed, but we do know that many additions have been made over the centuries. As the Liturgy was used in different countries and cultures over time, there are also slight variations in the wording and rituals. This book contains certain revisions of the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom for several reasons. Overall, it is formatted for more transparency and to allow full congregational participation.

This Eastern Orthodox Gospel Book has been formatted to feature the Orthros (Matins) and Liturgy Gospel readings for every Sunday of the church year. The twelve movable feast-days have been added at the end of the book. The non-movable feast-days among them have been inserted between the appropriate Sundays.
