This is a story of thirteen-year-old girl in 1875 who was saved from hanging as a cattle rustler. She goes on to have many adventures and becomes a legend among the Apaches and her own people.

This book is about a little girl who becomes lost from a wagon train. She overcomes many obstacles while trying to survive in the wilderness. Along the way she meets Cochise, an Apache Indian known for his ferocity. She becomes respected far and wide, as the Moutain Spirit, a giver of life.

This is not a war story and I never anticipated it to be. It is a love story, in my opinion (I am biased) a story of love, tears, tragedy and then love again. Perhaps with an added touch of the goodness that people oftentimes find in each other. The minute you begin to write about a military man, you are going to have war. You have to read beyond what our "Jake" experienced to get to "my ending."

This is a story of a young boy who runs away from home, has many adventures leading up to his adulthood,his love and his success as an adult.
