First written in 1756 by Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont, Beauty and the Beast is a well loved fairytale that has enchanted children for centuries. This adaptation keeps elements of the original fairytale, whilst also providing new and exciting changes. Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived a selfish Prince. One night, an old beggar woman knocked at the door to his castle. When the Prince refused to give her shelter from the cold, she transformed into a beautiful enchantress and cursed hiim, turning him into a hideous Beast. She gave him an enchanted rosebush with the promise that the spell will only be broken if the Beast can learn to love, and be loved in return. The story centres around Belle, a young woman fed up with her daily life. She lives with her merchant father Alphonse and her selfish sister Edith in a small provincial French town. When their father loses all his fortune and finds himself lost in the forest, he stumbles upon the castle ruled by the Beast. He only escapes with his life by reluctantly promising one of his daughters to the Beast. Together, Belle and the Beast embark on a journey of understanding, friendship and learning from each other. Meanwhile, the vain and borish hunter Laurent is determined to win Belle for himself, even at the cost of Beasts life... A family show for a medium to large cast of young actors.
In the faraway land of Perrault, the young prince Florian has defied his tyrannical father's command and ventured outside the city walls into the mysterious Eastern Woods. Here he meets the beautiful fae-lady Matilda and the two fall in love and are soon married. In time, King Charles fell ill and left his land and title to his son, and King Florian and Queen Matilda ruled in peace with the fae-folk. It came to pass that Matilda and Florian discovered a curse lay upon them, placed there by Maurelle - the evil faery and mother of Matilda. She cursed them to never bear children. In sacrificing her magic, Matilda succeeded in bearing a daughter - whom they named Aurora. In revenge, Maurelle placed a worse curse upon the child - that when she reached 16 years of age she would prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die. King Florian and Queen Matilda entrusted the safety of their only daughter to the care of three good faeries - Fleur, Saffira and Alfreda. They took Aurora to the Eastern Woods where she would grow up in hiding. 16 years pass, during which time Queen Matilda loses her life to grief and Florian turns nearly mad with revenge. Aurora grows up graceful, beautiful and gentle. Soon the curse comes to pass - only a true loves kiss can break the spell as Aurora falls into an enchanted sleep.

It is the early 18th century and our story takes place in a small Italian town outside of Rome. The story is narrated by Nicolina, a talking cricket, as she recounts her encounter with Pinocchio. Our story starts with Maester Antonio, a carpenter, and his young apprentice Guiseppe Collodi, better known as Gepetto. Antonio is greatly impressed with Gepetto's skill and decides to give him a grand gift on his 25th birthday - the hand of Antonio's daughter, Eleanora. Eleanora and Gepetto fall madly in love and marry shortly after, but their happiness is cut short when Eleanora fails to produce a child. Years pass and still no baby is born. Growing desperate for his wife's happiness, Gepetto begins to create her a little boy out of wood - a marionette. Sadly, Eleanora passes away before the puppet is finished. Now lonelier than ever, Gepetto endeavours to finish the puppet in his wife's memory and does so... and wishes with all his might that the puppet would come to life. Bella, the blue fairy and North Star, hears Gepetto's wish and brings the puppet to life, appointing Nicolina as his official conscience. She tells the puppet that he will only be a real boy when he can prove himself selfless, brave and true. He is named Pinocchio and Gepetto is thrilled. He gives Pinocchio money to go to school and be normal boy... but Pinocchio has other plans. Pinocchio sells his school book to buy a ticket to a travelling puppet show, where he is kidnapped by the puppet master Donata. He escapes, only to be conned and tricked by a pair of crooks named Vincenza and Carlo. Alone in the world, Pinocchio is then taken to Toyland by Demona on her coach, where he meets Candlewick... and things seem great to begin with, but things are not all as they appear. Suddenly finding himself sprouting donkey ears and a tail, Pinocchio flees - right into the jaws of Balena, the great whale. Will he ever be reunited with his Papi again, or must he be doomed to wander forever, a wooden marionette? Can he prove himself to be selfless, brave and true and therefore a real boy after all? A family show for a medium to large cast of young actors.
