The guide will provide concise insights to anyone who wants to understand the difficulties of this disease. You will see the road to gender transition is neither short nor easy. It is not a road chosen by the transgender. This road was laid out at birth. When the burden of hiding behind the fa ade of the person's birth gender becomes too heavy to carry, the transgender may decide transition is the only choice in order to live a full and peaceful life. It is imperative that everyone understand the depth and breadth of the struggle. Providing understanding, empathy and support will help to make the transition process possible and remove one major variable to success.You're transgender; you look in the mirror and admit to yourself. You've lived for years, maybe decades, moving across the gender continuum. At first things were easy; living your birth gender during the week and occasionally on weekends you portrayed the gender you feel inside. You may have questioned your need to cross genders. They are brave and probably fearful of rejection, ridicule, retribution and losing their livelihood. Your transgender employee is undertaking this journey out of absolute necessity. Your employee comes to you suffering from dysphoria, a medical diagnosis. Just like any other illness your employee is vulnerable physically, emotionally and psychologically.
