The Great Migration of Black Women Educators from Segregation to Integration documents the real-life journey of Black women educators who migrated North in order to obtain their advanced academic degrees. Remarkably, these women did not remain in the North. Instead, they returned to their communities in the South in order to educate Black children. Dr. Obiora N. Anekwe uses photographic images, archival documents, oral history interviews, essays, and a documentary script to tell the untold stories of Black women educators he personally knew. These women have influenced his educational, ethical, and moral values, which, in turn, have impacted how he teaches young people today. While reading the book, we are reminded to never give up in the face of human injustice. In the end analysis, this book speaks to how education serves as the gateway to a better life for all humanity.

The Chronicles of Up from Slavery: A Teachers Guide was written by Dr. Obiora N. Anekwe in order to help first-year college students develop an oral history project and theatrical production based on Dr. Booker T. Washingtons autobiography, Up from Slavery. The book is also appropriate for usage among high school students. Dr. Anekwe wrote his teachers guide during his tenure as an academic administrator at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. During April of 2010, he executive produced and directed his first-year students oral history lecture and theatrical production in the Tuskegee University Chapel. After the productions overwhelming success, Dr. Anekwe presented a joint paper based on the process of creating the Booker T. Washington Writers Desk at the School of Visual Arts Annual Conference in Manhattan, New York, and the Robert R. Taylor Symposium at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama.

Flying High Above Paris Skies: The Life of Eugene Bullard chronicles the colorful and diverse life story of Eugene Bullard (1895-1961), the first black military pilot. Born in Columbus, Georgia, Bullard persevered and succeeded in various careers in spite of the racial discrimination he faced. This children's book is an extension of a reading series about African American men and women from Columbus, Georgia, who achieved extraordinary accomplishments in their respective fields. As illustrator and writer of this children's book, Dr. Obiora N. Anekwe integrates pictures and poetic words to tell the story of Eugene Bullard's life story. His book is appropriate for children of all ages who are interested in learning about creative and innovative black Americans who achieved success during trying times.

The lives of enslaved black North Americans were filled with pain and suffering. In order to cope with the harsh realities of living in enslavement, the words of the Negro Spiritual provided solace. But more significantly, the themes found in the Negro Spiritual proved over time to be the very road map that would lead people to freedom. On My Way to Freedom Land: A Collective Series of Collages and Photographs on the Negro Spirituals of the Underground Railroad Movement showcases forty-three Negro Spirituals through visual interpretations documented through collage and photography. Dr. Obiora N. Anekwe created these images over a three-year period to preserve the Negro Spiritual for generations to come. His advocative spirit to keep the stories of his ancestors alive is evident through this historic and vivid book.
